BILLY THE BIKER  I couldn't figure out how to use Soundflower to play audio to my remote speakers so I tried to uninstall it with the script provided. It seems to have disappeared from my Apps folder, but Soundflower is still listed in Input and Output in my System Preferences/Sounds. How do I get rid of them?

PIZZACAKE  Just a caution on installation, don't have any apps using audio/video open. I had iChat open and the installer for soundflower hanged, as soon as I closed iChat the installation completed.

KFKERNEL  I downloaded (twice) and each time did the install as usual. Everything seemed normal, but no application is produced. When I search for "Soundflower" I get only the many files that are in the downloaded folder.

I am using a PPC with OSX 10.5.6.

NEIL_M  Have you looked in Utilities Folder > Audio MIDI Setup?

Under the Audio Devices tab, you should find Soundflower listed.

ARVIDTP  yeah - it installs a virtual audio device, not an app. Soundflowerbed is an app that provides some control over the virtual audio device.

MS2K  so how do i uninstall this (Soundflower 1.3.1)?

according to the description here: "Soundflower includes an uninstaller."

and the Sunflower package itself says:

"From an account with administrator privileges, double-click on

the Uninstall_Soundflower.command file."

but i don't see that anywhere in what i downloaded.

tnx in advance

DEVNEVYN  Remove /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext and reboot.

Sorry, I'll add the uninstaller in the next release. My apologies for missing that. (I'm the one who makes the 1.3.x releases)

LOUKASH  WARNING!

Do not install v1.2 if you are already running an older version of Soundflower on your PPC Mac. v1.2 will most likely not work anymore, although it will report a successful installation. Just stay with v1.1 until they fix it.

LOUKASH  Same here. "Not installed". The previous version worked flawlessly. I'm going to reinstall it from a backup.

I'm using a PowerBook G4/1.67 15", OS 10.4.7.

What confuguration are you guys using?

LOUKASH  Update:

I just checked the Cycling'74 forums and obviously they screwed it up so that Sunflower 1.2 runs on most MacIntels but not on PPCs. So, if you are on a PPC Mac and you still have a backup of v1.1, revert to that version until they fixed it. In fact, it seems that the only change is that v1.2 is supposed to be an "Universal" Binary, which it is obviously not... :P

If you're using a PPC Mac, DO NOT UPDATE to v1.2 yet!

JEFFERYN  ditto to the above comments,

installation indicates success,

after reboot i see no new "audio devices" in audio control panel,

soundflower app states it is not installed...

but soundflower.kext is in system extensions directory.

curiously, the kext file has a version of 1.0.1, not 1.2 (in finder, get-info)...

so, where does one find version 1.1?

i searched and couldn't find a link for it here or elsewhere...

thanks-

DAH  StuffIt, is not included in the 10.4 install. So you need to download StuffIt 10.0, to open the "sit" file.

CTFCPUG  right click on the .sit file and force it to use Stuffit to open the file and you'll get the regular Sunflower.dmg file to install with

ANONYMOUS  I had similar trouble installing Soundflower. I wrote to cycling74 support, and they gave a quick response.

Check your permissions in the extensions folder:

system > library > extensions

Be sure that the permissions (Under Get info on the folder) are set to read and write for the admin or your user when you install.

Worked for me. Hope this helps

BERY RINALDO  This is a great tool...it allows you to route audio from any application into others that use the Core Audio drivers. I've sucessfully used this to route the audio from my Formac Studio DV/TV into GarageBand...see here:

REEDYBLOKE  Does exactly what it says in the description. This routes apps together. I can now put the ESP synthesiser in Logic HitKit into GarageBand or a midi track audio output of GarageBand into Soundtrack.

Excellent download.
