MINORI I fail to see the point of this. It only offers one feature over the bundled Apple DVD player and that's a video mode that's practically unwatchable. It still suffers from a lack of deinterlacing. As a freeware it would be a bit pointless, so I really can't see any excuse for charging money for this. Give us the two USEFUL features that Apple's DVD player lacks: 1) Deinterlacing (it's sad I even have to ask for this) 2) Regionfree playback (as patched firmware is scarce) and I'll gladly pay for this. VLC can deinterlace DVD playback, play discs from any region regardless of the drive region and it's FREE. Granted, it's slow as it lacks hardware-accelerated video, but it's a better alternative than this. It's fine as a demo of the power of Quartz Extreme, but as an alternative to Apple DVD player, it's useless. |
