CLAUCLAU  Why apple is so retarded about not having these cool features.

My computer starts getting old, I can't use it. It's already bearing what it shouldn't support.

LEMMING  This is a neat app, but why can't it be minimized to the Dock?

ANONYMOUS  great as a standard player but if you only want this for its transparent talents then its better/cheaper/more functional to use unsanity.com 's windowshade with apple's standard dvd player.

DJ  Thanks CE for this product. Well worth the price just to be able to watch a DVD without booting into OS9. Apple doesn't seem to care about us that don't have their superdrive. I can now pop a DVD into m BOA EZQuest frewire DVD reader, writer, sit back and watch the show.

ANONYMOUS  But its not worth paying anything for, thats for sure, doesn't give you enough benefit over any other player. Pretty cool for shareware, but other than that i dunno...

A BEAUTIFUL TRAGEDY  true it doesn't nessisarly give you "that much more than Apple DVD player" but it's pretty freakin cool. Right now im watching a movie FULL SCREEN while i type this. The movie obviously gets washed out because of all the stuff in the background, but its definetly still watchable. I do think that if i was to do this for a long time i would get a serious head ache, cause your eyes are trying to watch the DVD and all the other stuff at the same time. But it is a good way to show off your computer graphics, (takes a nice computter to do crap like this), and its kinda fun....

FARIBORZ  The best feature of this program is that it allows slow Macs like my iMac 350 cast DVDs smoothly and without those annoying jerky movements we are used to see on low-end user computers. Only this feature alone makes it worth buying as I did after five minutes of running the demo. Now I can finally use my slow iMac to see my favorite DVDs without any issue. ANONYMOUS  Wow! Now I can either NOT pay attention to a movie while I work on other things or NOT work on other things while I watch a move... wait a minute... I could do the second with Apple's DVD player.

Um, what is exactly the point of this application?

MINORI  I fail to see the point of this. It only offers one feature over the bundled Apple DVD player and that's a video mode that's practically unwatchable. It still suffers from a lack of deinterlacing. As a freeware it would be a bit pointless, so I really can't see any excuse for charging money for this.

Give us the two USEFUL features that Apple's DVD player lacks:

1) Deinterlacing (it's sad I even have to ask for this)

2) Regionfree playback (as patched firmware is scarce)

and I'll gladly pay for this.

VLC can deinterlace DVD playback, play discs from any region regardless of the drive region and it's FREE. Granted, it's slow as it lacks hardware-accelerated video, but it's a better alternative than this.

It's fine as a demo of the power of Quartz Extreme, but as an alternative to Apple DVD player, it's useless.

ANONYMOUS  Just so you know, as of OS X 10.3, Apple DVD player does have adaptive deinterlacing.

BOB_WEINER  This program is impressive. No....VERY impressive -- it works as advertised, and now lets me truly multitask while watching my favorite DVDs.
