DAWGDRUMMER  Well it's been a month and LenFix is still not fixed...too bad, it was a nice plug-in.

DAWGDRUMMER  LensFIx CI 4.3 causes Photoshop to crash when using it in Snow Leopard. I have Photoshop CS4 and new (2009) 8 core Mac Pro. It used to be a great plug-in. Here's hoping an update comes soon.

DANNYMONTANI  Ok, what's happening here.My comment post from last night has been pulled from the reviews for no reason.

Yesterdays download of LensFixCI v4.4.1 gave me v4.3. I installed it and it quits upon launching with a small 56k .jpg, then a 1.3mb .jpg and then a 10.9mb .nef from a Nikon D40x. It automatically sent reports to Apple. Each try netted the same quit.I am thourly knowledgeable, running 10.5 on a Mac Pro G5, 3G, and need it for PS CS3 asap for about 200 images.

Now, late night I went to the competition's site PTLens, (www.epaperpress.com) and found them to be the initiator of the two programs 'Lens databases'. I downloaded his software v1.0.4 which is almost the same interface. It installed fine and works just fine. It is also half the price at $15.

I see that I will have to make an action script to do batch processing of my images. Should be no sweat. I praise Tom Nieman for his good work.

ETNIER  Checking the documentation shows no database support for the Nikon D80 or D40/d40x. A shame...

KAZ219  The idea is great, but I'll have to wait a bit (it's still in beta, after all), because batch processing doesn't work for me... too bad.

Something which would be amazing, would be the "applescriptability" of lensfix, in order to make it possible to write an apple script and batch process pictures from inside iPhoto!! Just a thought...

DGOMBAU  This is a great tool - especially for people who want to photograph streets, interiors, and framed artwork. These subjects really show up lens distortion, and LensFix CI does a simple yet powerful job (like Calico does for panorama stitching) of "just making it right". License is a small price to pay for such a timesaver.

TDAVEN  Let me know if this fixes:

a) The missing small slices in the plugin or stand alone

b) The missing large tiles in the plugin or stand alone app

I have one user still reporting the bugs and I need to know which macs this is an issue on and which Macs it works.

TDAVEN  Thomas took his PTLens private about a year ago. You won't see any new lenses in his old database. Check his site at epaperpress.com. I licensed the new version of the PTLens database from Thomas.

JACKWEB  For anyone looking for a free alternative, try HuginOSX

http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/18575

Let's hope someone develops a free version of the Lens fix.

(btw HuginOSX isn't a plugin as such, but standalone software)

TDAVEN  FYI, LensFix CI does not use Panotools for processing, is for correcting distortion, perspective, chromatic aberrations and vignetting individual images (Hugin is for stitching images). In addition, LensFix CI has over 500 camera and lens presets. Maybe someone will develop a free source of gasoline for my car. Compare LensFix CI with other distortion correcting programs and not photo stitchers.

MCGINTY  18 months later and kekus continues to develop the package. His GUI for PTools is fabulous and the plugins are great. I use the lensfix all the time, even for relatively minor adjustments - fast and accurate.

PATRICKH  Kekus has worked hard to respond to user requests and comments. He cannot be expected to do this for free! His gui for the almost unusable "free" panotools has brought that very powerful and amazing software home for the masses. Five stars for incredible cheap software - compare with any of the other stitchers or lens correction utilities for price, ease of use and results. Above all results!

ANONYMOUS  I purchased this software specifically for lens distortion adjustments, thinking it might be faster to use than LensDoc(Andromeda). However, it was more difficult to use since, at least for me, it was hard to tell when the distortion was corrected. For completely precise distortion adjustments, LensDoc provides more accuracy more easily.

ANONYMOUS  LensFix and LensDoc take different approaches for fixing distortion. With LensFix, there is some front-end manual effort but when you get the settings dialed in, you are set to go in repeating the actions. LensFix also includes an ever expanding of pre-sets and allows you to correct for wavy line distortion, chromatic aberrations, vignetting, etc. while LensDoc only allows for correction of barrel / pincushion distortion. Add to that, you also get image type remapping, etc. with the other four plug-ins included with LensFix.

ANONYMOUS  Oh come on. If you don't think people have a right to charge for adding value and a GUI to free libraries...you need to wipe OS X itself off your hard drive right now! Or risk being a hypocrite.
