GIORGOSSE  Worth to download. Little of 80's Asteroid, Maelstrom, and Pirates concept from Escape Velocity. I played all these games for many hundred or maybe thousand of hours. This is a good game but it needs at least short keys options and a more "reach" story. Its addictive but can not last in time as much us all the others I mention before the way it is now.

MADDOG  This game is a 2-D (with 3D sprites) game that very addictively recreates Asteroids. The other reviews are correct - it is fabulous! With all due respect to Parsec, this is the real "Commercial Quality Freeware". If I had a request to make, it would be to let me remap the keys.

ROGER GRISIM  This game is SUPER addictive, I absolutely love it! It is a great stress-realiver at work, just a play a quick level and boom you are feeling fine! The interface is easy, the concept is sound and the gameplay is challenging and yet still fun. Great work!

DHWN  This game recalls the golden age of video games (1980s) when gameplay was king. Back then, graphics and sound were primitive, so authors had to focus on developing a great *game*, with responsive and intuitive gameplay rather than dazzling visuals and sounds. The amazing thing about Argonaut is that the author seems to have started out with those basic ideas in mind, but then added great graphics and sound effects as well--the sound effects in particular are excellent, with multiple randomly-selected effects even for the explosions, which in a subtle way reduces repetitiveness while playing. There are many other small touches which add up to an addictive, immersive experience. I also appreciate that the controls are simple, and that the weapon choices are few--far too many mediocre games try to improve themselves by tacking on lots of extras. Argonaut keeps it simple and finds a very effective balance between rich gameplay and simple operation.

In short, this is the best game of this genre that I have played in years.

ANONYMOUS  Spectacular Free 3D asteroids-like game. Even non-gamers will get addicted to this. This is a beautiful game! Works on 10.3 Jaguar!!

JOHN E.  Adrenalin, anger, fear. A beautiful game full of strategy, simple and action packed. Fighting in "Asteriod" style with pirates is not unlike the subway scene in the matrix where two bodies spin past each other firing shots. Errie glowing crystals and dark huge objects thrill you.

The upgrade I want most is reverse trusters!

What's makes it best is it's free free free!

PHILLIP RYU  Great, but here are some gameplay improvements I really hope for:

Different colors at least for the background fog, green can get repetitive.

Save game? So you can continue at a level with credits and weapons?

Also, perhaps if you allowed turning with the mouse, and had an aiming reticule for it, that would also be very cool. And if you're not going to have mouse controls, get rid of the cursor please! GREAT SO FAR!! :D

SHAITAN  Very slick interpretation of Asteroids, and aside from the old Lunatic Fringe (a game module for After Dark) is my favorite Asteroids variation to date. Fast paced fury at its best and a great price - er, it's free! I'd love it to support more resolutions (especially higher ones), but that's not a complaint.

STARTYGER  Niiiiiiiiiiiice. This is the best version of Asteroids Ever... wish it were combined with that "race through an asteroid field..."game .... or was larger in view like Parsec or Thrustoids!! Still, the graphics are pretty sweet(Asteroids..fully 3D, the Explosions are great effects!!!) The little robot? ships are fast......wait... is this.. could this be?!?!? A Mac version of....Sinistar!??!?!?!?!? (if not.. then HINT HINT HINT!!!!!) This would be my favorite game... andwould lodge itself in to the "best games!!" category very very quickly!!!

ANONYMOUS  Cool Asteroids version with extra elements like a little trading for upgrades and enemies - all of them very nasty!

Very fast, gripping action! Cool graphics and lashing music. The scrolling is very smooth, too.

My only "critique" on this freeware (thanks!) is that it's quite hard to master and almost hectic. At least for me... it made me sweat! :)

Certainly worth the download.
