ANONYMOUS  Excellent

I have been using Searchling for al long time. Finally I did the jump to this "new version" and I am very happy with it:

1. No procesor waste

2. Very discreet, cute and clever User Interface

3. Easely customizable

4. And the last but the best: easy Keyboard shortcuts

ANONYMOUS  Before you buy this, try Quicksilver. You can do everything this app does and even more! And QS is free.

Let me ask you something:

Does everything always have to be free? Is a developer ever entitled to earn a living by producing some decent programs?

I'm just sayin'.....

Give the guy a break. (And no, I'm not in any way involved in the software business; just a guy kinda tired of always seeing these developers ragged on daily, like they were the devil or somethin')

Just because you know where to pick up a similar application at no cost; why deny this developer the opportunity of eaking out a living? Would you like someone like YOU doing to your business, what you did here today to him?

I don't think so....

CHARLIEMOUSE  Should re-release this as freeware ;)

Not a bad product but with the donationware 'Butler' available as a free download you would have to be nuts to purchase ambrosia's fifteen buck one trick pony.

SUBMERSIBLESPORK  Absolutely fantastic. I can't live without this app! Being able to search any site I want to and go to any site via keyboard shortcuts I specify is invaluable. The possibilities are endless.

I've tried other applications that do nearly the same thing, but none of them fit as perfectly as this little gem. The clean interface, powerful features, and low price make it a must-have in my book!

RIMSHOT4ZA  I've been trying out iSeek and have one quibble - it takes up too much space in the menubar. Yah yah, I know I can resize it and I could even hide the search field if I wanted to. The problem with the first option (resizing the field) is that it still takes up space in my menubar. The problem with the second option (hiding the search field) is that a simple click of the magnifying glass doesn't return me to the last used search source.

What I would really like is to hide the search field and upon clicking the magnifying glass, the search field slides into view and I can then type in my search. An X could be placed on the right side of the search field in place of the site icon. Clicking this X would again close the search field so only the magnifying glass is visible until I click the magnifying glass again where the search field then slides into view.

That would be truly efficient.

ANONYMOUS  Much of the functionality of this app is present in *Another Launcher*. The big difference is that iSeek costs $15 and Another Launcher costs $0.

BERTOBOX  This is not at all like Another Launcher, this allows you to easily customize search engines, which AL only allows you to choose from a list. The only thing that iSeek urgently NEEDS, is for the individual sites' Hotkeys to function only AFTER you activate iSeek itself. (SearchBar does this) Because otherwise, whenever I want to use my regular keyboard shortcuts for other programs, iSeek overides them. Otherwise, this is truly a beautiful and easy to use search tool.

ANONYMOUS  Great little app! This has made my life so much easier, with searching any site I want! I can easily make my own, or share them, or get people to share with me. I'm not sure how I searched before this, but I know I'll never go back. Brilliant work as always from Ambrosia, and unlike that rip-off chercher, I know I'll get my money's worth, and that Ambrosia will support it.

JIMW  SearchBar also sets hotkeys for engines, allows you to select sites, change

order, set separators, checks for updates, allows subsite selection, etc.

And its FREE - no registration or credit card hassle.

ACRAPPA  I just checked out Chercher. It does customize hot keys to individual sites and checks spelling. I smell competition.

ACRAPPA  From what I can tell, the competition does not have:

- Customizable hot keys to individual sites.

- An elegant and Mac-like interface.

Spell-checking.

- Linkable search sites (iseek://).

Can I get the same basic experience with other searchers? Sure. But I don't want the basic experience, I want the best experience. iSeek it is.

PHILLIP RYU  Or Chercher... 1/3 the price, same basic features. Yes, I tried this. I also tried chercher and the app launcher app that has a search menu item. They're all similar in functionality, but iseek is at least 3 times more expensive than its competition..

JIMW  Sounds like a nice utility but why do we need it? I suggest you take a look at the freeware - Searchbar, before paying your shareware fee. If you do you might change your mind about what menu bar search engine you wish to use and save yourself $15 in the process.

ACRAPPA  Wow. You guys need to do your research. This is a quantum leap from Searchling. Months of development have gone into iSeek, and it shows. I suggest that you read about (or at least try) iSeek (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/iseek/) before you comment on it.

***½.

PHILLIP RYU  Well implemented and slick, but offers no functionality over Chercher and is three times its price. Ideally, they should both be free.

TIM  Very slick little utility! I use the Google search bar in Safari all the time and have always wished it could be used for other sites as well. iSeek is a huge step forward as it can be accessed directly from any application. It even allows hot keys to be assigned to specific sites. For example, I've configured iSeek so that pressing Option+Command+I allows me to search the Internet Movie Database (IMDB). Hats off to the folks and Ambrosia software!

ANONYMOUS  Funny how you can take a completely functional and wonderful piece of free software change the icon and then charge 15 dollars for it.

Way to go "Ambrosia". Capitalism at its finest.
