NACHOPOLEAN It seems as though everyone is having trouble with this program. Is it worth getting and using if it's like this? And has anyone had this program somehow mess up your ipod, or itunes, or even something else on your computer? (Version 5.1)

JAN_KASPAR If you're getting the "this_ipod2" error message, try Ctrl + click on the ipod in the iTunes left hand column. Click: Open iPod (before you do this, make sure you have set the ipod to manual music setting) and the ipod screen in iTunes should open in a new window. ITunes will ask you something like: are you sure you wanna open, just say yes. Then Ollie's SHOULD recognize your iPod. This at least worked for me. I tried to get Ollie's to recognize my ipod for the longest time, and all I got was the "this_ipod2" bull crap, but when I opened the iPod in a new window within iTunes, Ollies seemed to catch it. And my music is being extracted as I type.

HELPME I couldn't be more pleased! After accidentally losing my iTunes Library this week, I've been in a panic to find a way to recover it by downloading my iPod to my Mac. Apple was certainly no help and several independents with software had complicated directions and didn't work for me. Not only was Ollie's iPod Extractor free (I was happy to VOLUNTEER a $15 donation) but it did ALL of the thinking for me. I recovered over 1500 songs! Thanks. (Version 5.1)

QUBBED Overall, this application did what was promised. It did, however, change the file names to weird letter combinations. I think it happens more or only when cover art is accompanying the file. Clicking on the file name plays it in iTunes and then usually changes the name back to the original. It does also make duplicates where applicable. Easily fixed by the Show Duplicate Songs command (although going in by hand is more effective). We do have to remember that this application was most likely written in someones parents basement to meet the demand for an extractor as well as make a few bucks, Im sure. It is not perfect, but it did what I wanted it to, and anything it changed was easily restored. Sure it takes some time and effort, but if youre a big enough fan of your music, it is well worth it! SORIN2120 This program does not actually move any music. I just used it. It said it moved all my music to my computer. I did this because I needed to reformat my iPod. So I then restored my iPod to factory settings, after checking that the songs in my library played. I then went back into my library to discover that none of the songs would play, because their original file could not be found. This program is completely and utterly useless. It accomplishes nothing. I now lost 28GBs of music and countless hours of time spent finding, ripping and enjoying it. I really could not be more dissapointed with the false claims made about this program. It should at least be posted what it does, before people use it and have thousands of dollars worth of information destroyed. (Version 5.1)

OCEANNE When I attempt to use the Extractor, I immediately get an AppleScript error saying it can't copy an m4a song. ANTONIA Ollie - whoever you are, you are a Godsend. I lost my songs because of a failed hard drive and was amazed when Apple said I couldn't just download the songs from my IPod. So, after finding you and using your program, I just donated to your Paypal account and would like to have given more because your software has saved my music. I am so incredibly grateful. The only thing I have to worry about now is getting all my songs back into their original Playlists, which takes a helluva lot of time. Thank you so, so very much for creating this product. P.S. Note to future users: I did have to hit the Ollie icon about four times to get all the songs. It seems to pick them somewhat randomly and not all on the first try... (Version 5.1)

Well while I was importing I went to the a Prefs menu to turn off the option of playing the song once imported but iTunes still plays the songs. I would be nice if you can if you added the feature not to play the songs once imported or tell how in advance to stop the playing when import. Thanks. I was able to transfer all the files from my iPod Nano created on a Powerbook G4 into iTunes on an iBook G4 with no problems whatsoever. If it kept playlists it would be perfect. THE ITUNES GURU I downloaded this compact bit of code. It does work ok but it caused my itunes to go haywire for about 20-30 minutes and I couldn't put iTunes in the background and switch to another application while it was working. The promise it makes that "duplicates will not be made" is not completely true, (although it tries not to make them) If, for example, you have the same song but on both your itunes and your ipod, but they are given different genres, duplicates will be created. I ended up with about 1.6gigs worth of duplicates with a 15gig library. It didn't take too long to find and delete them. (Used the "show duplicates" option on iTunes) (Version 4.0)

Well there went my iTunes library (but thanks to Ollie/´s iPod Extractor/ I´m back and Byrne is streaming out latin rock). A simple interface and clear instructions. It´s not Apple-magic but it gets the job done and it helped me circumvent the traps Apple applied to comfort RIAA and the greedy crowd.
