L008COM The author's email address has been sending out "Conversation isn't dead" auto-responses for 2 years running. I've given up hope. I know several OS X programmers that offered to port the code to at least make the program Universal, for free, and even without seeking credit (though crediting them would certainly be the right thing to do). But email after email goes unanswered. :-( (Version 2.14)

ANONYMOUS What is Conversation? Basically an IRC App, but yet again, a very specific one. This nice commenter above has not even slightly understood whats its about, he rather focuses on his personal problems which he projects into the internet. Anyway, Conversation is as the name implies, a conversiation app - meaning its focused on that. Its an "i" App, and could be called like "iRelay" or what.. it CAN perform more than basic stuff of course, but the app is NOT your most complex IRC agent, its aimed to provide IRC to the cuasual user not necessairly interested in tech stuff, scripts and gadgets. In other words: You can start using it in a minute, but can dig deeper later, if needed. Would be nice it supported mIRC scripts as those are quite common (Version 2.14)

JOHN LEWIS Love this app, the only solution for me. But why does it connect to homepage.mac.com upon first launch? If its just so the developer can get an idea of how many people are using his software then cool - but any other info about my Mac and myself and I'd be a bit reluctant to launch this prog. Maybe he could explain this here. But don't get me wrong, I use this all day every day. Great software. - Some smileys don't work because theres so many I suppose. Maybe there should be a custom icon interface in the preferences so you could assign something like :applause: to a GIF manually - I use 1 room all the time and this would be a welcome option. A floating smiley window even. - Sometimes Conversation cancels the shutdown process, even though it has been successfully quit/ended by the finder during shutdown. These 2 things addressed, and clarification of what information is sent to the dev, would make this perfect IMO. (Version 2.14)

PHILIPPE Conversation, like many other programs check if there is a new version available. To do so it downloads a file from the web site. You can disable these feature from the preferences. As you may know it is impossible to upload a program or an active page, like PHP to .mac, so there is no way to count or to transmit personal informations. The developer's email address (mine) is available from the web site, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any doubt, or more feature requests/but report.

JOHN This is one of the better IRC app, but I just refuse to use it until the chat window text display is improved. As of right now, it is incredibly difficult to read and follow the "conversation" going on in any one chat room because: * Every user has a different color for their name but it doesn't match their text * There's no formatting/indenting between the names and text, causing everything to be run together. Personally, I prefer having user-icons for everyone in the chat room (imported from my buddy list, for example) or names displayed at a fixed-width so that text lines up. What Conversation really needs is a configurable text display area. Even better would be a display area based on HTML/CSS so that it can be completely adjusted. It's a shame, because the rest of the app is awesome, well put together and I'd really like to use it :( (Version 2.1)

ANONYMOUS The main reason I was using Conversation is because it's the only IRC client I could find that didn't insist upon wasting huge amounts of screen space on useless nonsense I don't care about. Just a little window, like iChat, with what I need. With 2.0, I really like the idea of a single-window interface. However, the channel list on the left side of the window is absolutely ENORMOUS, for no good reason, and can't be made smaller! What's up with that? Just because I'm in two channels doesn't mean I want half the window occupied with a "list" of the two channels I'm in! A couple of nice, simple tabs would suffice. Also, give me an option to turn off the idiotic "smiley" pop-up menu. I had to hack the nib file to remove that thing. (Version 2.0)

MIXEL Hi. I LOVE this client, it's very well thought out. One feature request (assuming that the dev reads this!) - Tabs - like Adium does, along the bottom of the room window.. So you could have a window per server and not have to fill the desktop with n-million channels. I hope this gets implemented some point soon, but I'll carry on using it until then anyway! THE_TICK The way to enable that isn't quite intuitive though. It took me a minute to find what you meant, even by searching for it. ANANNA My IRC client of choice. I don't need the fancy stuff. I just want to join a channel and talk with the people who invited me to join them on IRC. Usually a project meeting for some open source contraption, but sometimes moderated chats with game community celebrities (which is right up there with local celebrities like the Meteorologist from Channel 13). I don't want something that blurts out what I'm listening to on iTunes, or shows iSight pictures (not that I could afford an iSight), or executes complex scripts that turns everything I'm writing into haxor language. Conversation does what I need and that's all I need. Thanks, Team Conversation! (Version 2.0pb1)

MADOKA OZAWA I like the idea of this. Having used ircle and mIRC up to now the new look and feel is really nice. The way it lays out the chat window is really clean and highlighting urls and making them clickable is a nice touch too. However, there's one thing that really needs looking at. If you got to a file-serving channel and type !list, each server advert opens in a new window as a private message. Go to a busy channel and you'll find yourself with a couple of dozen cascaded windows taking up your screen. It would be better if there was an option to display these ads in the main chat window. For now I'll stick with ircle because of this, but I'd love something better (especially one that properly support the mIRC colour protocol as it does help with such channels) (Version 1.4.2)
