FNORD Oh, where to start. OK, first of all, I bought a Wireless Desktop for Mac (wireless keyboard & Mouse). It worked great for all of four hours or so. After that, the mouse was dead and the keyboard would skip abou every third key. The people at kensington were kind enough to send me a replacement set & told me I could do whatever I wanted with the old set. This tells me that they've obviously had a lot of trouble with this item. Secondly, I think their driver software sucks. In the pref pane for the keyboard, you're only allowed to set three keys (and two of them are the same key!) and whether or not the F-lock functions are set at startup. The forward/back keys are erratic in function: in some apps they work as expected, while in others they function to switch apps. I also don't like that there aren't any indicator lights to let you know if you've got caps lock, num lock or f-lock set or not. If you must use this hardware, I recommend using ControllerMate to handle the extra buttons. (Version 1.8r1)

TROSSKNECHT For a little more than a week, my Kensington wireless desktop (Model 64832) worked well with my MacBook (OS 10.4.7). Yesterday morning, however, the mouse went on strike. While still willing to employ its two buttons and its wheel, it refused to fulfill the essential duties of its office - to wit, the moving of the pointer about the screen. Like the other folks who posted reviews on this site, I have had no joy from customer service. Neither have all of the usual remedies - reloading software, restarting the computer, synchronizing the mouse with the base station - born any fruit. (Version 1.8r1)

TROSSKNECHT After I posted my initial review, this website was kind enough to offer me a free version of Mouseworks. I downloaded this software, installed it, restarted my computer and resynchronized my wireless desktop. Alas, there was no change in the performance of my mouse. (Version 1.8r1)

DOGPERSON Thank you, thank you, thank you for this reality check! I too have had the same problems with my PocketMouse for a couple of weeks and nothing I do seems to be able to solve the problem -- I also did a reinstall. Thank you all, too, for writing about Kensington's customer service. Now I won't bother wasting precious time. This is frustrating because this is my second mouse from this company in about two years. Now I'll look elsewhere. (Version 1.8r1)

SMTIPS Kensington wireless desktop is the pits. I bought one awhile back that didn't work right. One of the things it did was to auto eject the CD tray any time that the usb receiver was plugged into my G4 Sawtooth. Another was that the hot key buttons didn't work. Long story short: Customer service are raving idiots at Kensington. I have a folder full of 52 emails attempting to correct their problem. They would tell me to download software I already had installed. They would tell me I had the wrong version. The version number of the downloaded files did not match the version on their website. The software for ANOTHER MODEL was the correct software for the keyboard I had. They told me to do things completely unrelated to the problem. When they got stumped, I would receive a NEW email from a different tech, and they would try to start all over again with me. DUH. I called them, they sent me a new unit without even attempting to troubleshoot. Did the same things as I knew it would. Then they wanted to send me a THIRD. I wound up sending everything back, getting a refund and vowing never to use Kensington products again. I posted a scathing review of my experience on the newegg website, and they evidently saw fit to remove my poor review. Now I see that they have an "open box" special on the 64354, which I would assume means they are getting a lot of returns. I would be willing to bet that newegg will stop selling these after their open box specials are sold. I have had bad experiences with products before, but this was the absolute worst, and the customer service is a pathetic excuse for human interaction. They don't have a clue. (Version 1.8r1)

FLASH1296 I am a 20 yr. user of Kensington products. I adore my Kensington Turbo Mouse and I have enjoyed several other Kensinton products; BUT -This one does NOT play well with Macs. Also I prefer a heavier feel to my keyboard with better tatile feedback. There is no L E D on the Caps Lock key. There are NO U S B ports either. I can NOT use this K. keyboard with my K. TurboMouse simultaneously ! For me that clinches it! Major dissapointment! (Version 1.4)

JOHN I purchased the kensington optical desktop for my eMac. After a couple of days, the mouse started to drag all the time and the keyboard stopped working entirely. I emailed kensington, to address my problem, received an automated email to say that they would look at my problem and get back to me. I never heard from them, I tried going to there web site and downloading updated drivers, that made no difference. I have since sold my emac and purchased an iMac g5, tried installing the cordless desktop, and for some reason it is working great. I am using it at this moment, I do not know if it is the different processor or what, but it seems to be fine. I also downloaded the latest drivers again, for some reason they installed better, so far so good, it is working flawlesly. The keys are great, the only thing I don't like is the caps lock key, it does'nt have a light, sometimes I forget to push it and wind up typing everything in capitals. (Version 1.2)

ZED It has refused to work under my computer's OS. It continues to tell me the drivers are not installed in the preferences, when they are installed from this installer. I am on 10.2, an ibook, 128 MB Ram, 800 MHZ. (Version 1.2)
