BRAINDANCER  I'm using Proteus on Leopard, and I don't see message history being populated. I check history of the contacts I talked to yesterday, and it's blank. The "enable history on this account" is turned on both on my ICQ account and my jabber account. What am I missing?

GEORGE  I like proteus its everything I am looking for in a chat messenger. more stable and more upto date than the out of date and much needed overhaul of yahoo's chat for us mac users. the only thing I am bothered about Proteus is the lack of not being able to access other peoples webcams or to get my own webcam to work on Proteus. Now you get that working yahoo has some serious competition

HELLZ  Mercury Messenger supports webcams. It'a not perfect but getting better with each release.

As for this program, absolutely no reason to pay for this CPU hog when there's Adium, much better, free and with more features, and Fire (which I don't like but some people do and it has more os less the same features as Proteus - and it's FREE).

ANONYMOUS  I've been a user of this product for nearly two years since I switched from WinHell. On the old platform I was quite happy with Trillian and wanted a product that did that. Proteus seemed to be the thing for quite a long time. Now comes Tiger and I do a fresh install of the OS. I've verified that I have my license number and reinstall Proteus. Now it pings me for my license number so I enter it and submit. I get an invalid license number error message. At this point I send a message to the new owner of the code with a copy of the receipt for my purchase which includes the license code. They email back with a question: What version are you running? I answer that I am running 4.11. This has been 3 week and no reply yet. I would not recommend downloading this product, and certainly would recommend against paying any money to this company. I don't know what their strategy is here, but they have shown no integrity to me on my issue and I believe I've been patient.

ANONYMOUS  Proteus development is sinfully GLACIAL, worse even than Fire (another IM client, but at least Fire is free)

The two (Proteus and Fire) have totally, irreversibly lost the game for the very fact they can not ship their product in a timely fashion. And I believe the developers of the aforementioned two apps must be fully cognizant of this fact by now. If not, they are in denial of the plain truth. They should officially abandon ship and give up their charade.

That said, I think Adium is too cute by more than half, and I have never liked it for purely personal and aesthetic reasons, but the fact is that it totally lays waste to Proteus and Fire IM clients.

If you are even thinking of using Proteus or Fire, you have thought wrongly. If iChat can't satisfy you, by all means use Adium. Adium's developers are NOT disgustingly slovenly, unlike Proteus and Fire developers.

AET  This is not an IM service, it's an IM client. IM services such as Jabber, ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger and so forther are available IM services, and typically free.

Proteus, Adium, Fire, iChat and others are IM clients that provide a way to interface with those services. You need to use an IM client in order to connect to and use an IM service.

The cost of any IM client is up to the discretion of its developer(s).

MICHAEL CUMMINGS  I love Proteus for it's speed and wide compatibility, all of which seem to work, with all of the IM services that I know of. The only downsides I've experience are that image transfers don't always work with all services, and the using the auto update function, to download/install the latest version, have made it not work at all (I just downloaded myself from macupdate.com and all's well that ends well). With those two caviats and a warning to take Defaultware's marketing claims with a small grain of salt, I recommend it.

NO MORE PROTEUS  As a Proteus registered and long standing user I've finally trashed anything related to Proteus. Adium is by far better and you do not run the risk of having to redo your IM accounts like you do with Proteus. Once Proteus was the standard, but now it is simply half of what Adium is today. If you want to save money and get a much better IM client then trash Proteus--before--Proteus trashes files on your Mac, then download and start using Adium which is superior. Don't believe me? I didn't think Adium was that much better until version of Proteus 4.0.8 that forced me to try another client and so I chose Adium.--Adium rocks! I'm never looking back...

MACD  The app was always great, but since moving to v.4 it lost a feature, which is very important for some. The feature is to define visible/invisible lists in ICQ, so for example I can't be in invisible mode, but visible for some selected people, or be in Available mode, but some people can't see me as being online anyway.

I like Proteus very much, but I'm not switching from IcyJuice until that feature will be added.

SHAWN C. BLOWER  I'll be honest, at this moment I don't believe Proteus is worth 15 dollars. I do, however, see potential in this application. Everyone knows of Adium and it's low low price of free, but I believe Proteus is a lot more polished. The biggest feature that Proteus lacks over Adium is customizing of the contact list. I enjoy changing the look of my contact list as much as anyone, but I think that should come second over the actual function of the app itself. I always have trouble with both Adium and Proteus when it comes to sending files. I also hate that neither one supports web cams. Although I dislike Windows and most of the software for it, I do wish there could be something more like Trillian for the Mac. I do see potential in Proteus, but if Defaultware is ran by college students with full-time schedules I don't see this application going anywhere anytime soon.

SHAWN C. BLOWER  That was from one developer, who had a life outside of creating Proteus. Now there's a transition from one person's code to a new "company" trying to make it better. MRKINLA  Still no support for iSight? Hardly worth releasing an update if it's not going to support video. As an interface, Proteus is beautiful, but I have a feeling iChat will soon leapfrog over it -- and, although it's way ahead of Yahoo in terms of its looks, it doesn't work like Yahoo.

CLOUDSCOUT  When Proteus hit 4.0, I felt that it was worth the $15. I liked Adium, but Proteus seemed a bit more refined and had a handful of features Adium was lacking. It also had the benefit of being commercial software with an actual support infrastructure in place.

But the support infrastructure was never utilized.

Their bug tracking system went largely ignored. Bugs that were filed 9 months ago still remain unfixed with no updates as to the progress.

The software itself hasn't had a release in over 4 months.

Now the developer's website has been down for quite a while without any updated explanations since December 28th.

To be fair, the original developer sold the software to Defaultware when he took a job with Apple. But I think the guys behind Defaultware bit off more than they could chew.

At the very least, I would suggest that you stick with Adium or other free options until these guys get things on track.

SHAWN C. BLOWER  Well, good to hear. May I suggest one thing though? Now, I'm not on the mailing list (if there is one), but I checked both defaultware and proteusx and website just the other day (before the move) and didn't read anything about moving to a new server. Steve Jobs likes to keep things a big secret, but I don't think this works too well for smaller companies such as yourself. More interaction and news/updates with the consumer is what attracts me to purchasing smaller software. Some might not care, but I'd like to feel like I'm a part of something when I spend my $15, especially when there is a free alternative. Maybe that's too much to expect for 15 bucks, or maybe I'm hitting it right on the head. Just a thought. Thanks for the speedy reply, it does show that you care about your software. And sorry for the previous people who gave low ratings for ignorant reasons.

JAKE  I've been using proteus for many months. Updates come sporadically. Its really the best looking and most functional 'all in one' instant messenger App.

The real gem about it is Tabbed messaging. Just how Safari/Mozilla makes it hard to use any plain browser, I can't use a 'regular' IM program any more. Having all your messages in a single pane is just too convenient to me. Enough so that I eventually registered.

For occasional free IM, go elsewhere. For more, check it out.

JEAN-FRANCOIS ROY  I'd like to make some precisions.

"such as how long a contact has been idle"

We support that on services that do (MSN, for instance, does NOT provide this information). When a service does not provide for how long a contact has been idle but does tell us a contact is idle, we also report that.

"indications that a contact is writing a response"

We support typing notifications on services that do. That can be toggled in the contact list and in the toolbar of message windows. In addition, some themes will provide visual feedback of typing notification changes - but this is up to theme authors to include or not in their theme.

"Spell Checker still does not function correctly"

If you are having issues with spell checking in the input field, please contact me directly and I will do everything I can to resolve your issue.

ANONYMOUS  Well... Proteus has lost a customer. I just switched to Adium. It's too early for a proper assessment, but from what I can see now, Adium can do everything Proteus does, but a) it's free and b) it does not have Proteus' irritating bugs.

I never used the spellchecker everyone is complaining about, so I don't know about those problems, but the problems related to ICQ are still there, even after a gazillion updates: buddy names get randomly overwritten (sometimes you see the ICQ buddy name, sometimes your own alias, sometimes just the UIN, etc.) and statuses are displayed incorrectly (buddies show up as online when they are really offline, or they are shown online when they are really away etc etc.) This WAS a real pain in the ***.

ANONYMOUS  I can understand being lamed by remiss small issues that never seem to get corrected. Personally, I want to hand it to the developer for bringing us, at the very least, a competitive offering (the others have some pretty greusume issues to) which gives us more choice, and, at the most, one of the best IM clients around.

Writing shareware for any platform is hardly a money making enterprise. Complaining about small issues without being constructive seem rather petty.

I cannot review this version yet, the developer has never acknowleded my bug reports, but he's churned out new versions on a rather aggressive basis and stuck with this software for quite a while. While he may have missed the spell check issue, he's covered many others and brought about loads of awesome features which make this a boss IM.

Simply my opinion. Finally, please consider what you're buying where you take on shareware. Your Mac platform would suck without the loads of it out there. Proteus is hardly a good example of shareware: try almost commercial grade with shareware price.

GET REAL  Geez...let's see now....Adium, Fire...both free. Both spell checkers work as they should. Now you're telling me how hard it is to write software? Also, you don't even realize that Proteus was sold and the original person that wrote it--started it for free, then charged us--got his money and then bailed. What a joke. I stopped using Proteus because of fools like you and started using Adium BECAUSE it is substantially better. Had I paid for Adium I would still consider SUBSTANTIALLY better. I also paid for Proteus and feel sorry for the new owners who will not be making as much as the originator before he bailed.

JESSEHATTABAUGH  Fools like him bothered you enough to make you switch to Adium? I can't say that I've ever been bothered by other users of Proteus, nor would I consider that much of a reason to switch. It's a chat client, not a club. Furthermore I think he made a very good argument. He was fair. Proteus has plenty of shortcomings, as do Fire, and Adium.

If the developers decide to charge it's their business, if they decide to sell, it's their business. People have lives outside their shareware, and the original developer got a new job, he did not "abandon" you. Furthermore, as the first guy said, mac-shareware is hardly a money making endeavor. If you don't like paying for someone's work, and you'd rather them give it away for free, by all means use a different chat client

JEAN-FRANCOIS ROY  This is supported. However, the MSN protocol has the following limitation - the contact picture of a contact only gets sent when you initiate a conversation with that contact.

This is because the MSN interface does not have contact pictures in its contact list, only in its message window.

Once we get the contact picture, we cache it and it should remain in your contact list after if you disconnect and reconnect at a later time.

SAME OL BUG--FOREVER  This has been an IM that I wanted to love, but can't. Why? I am indeed a registered user, but the forums do not work. There has been an ever present bug with the Spell Checker and that is when you find a misspelled word and then you highlight it, in the Spell Checker to make the changes versus choosing a word from the Spell Checker list, it will not paste the word into place and will not continue until you close the window and try again. This sucks and they never resolve it. To me this is poor programming to leave unresolved a simple issue that everyone else seems to get correct. Every time I come back and update to the latest version the bug is like a cockroach--still there. I use other IM's and wonder why I ever registered Proteus.

ANONYMOUS  Proteus is a very good IM client. The interface is very well designed and it's very usable. It doesn't get in the way. It's sleek. I registered because it's worth it.

However, the current final release is rather seriously buggy with regards to its ICQ support. Buddies are often displayed incorrectly (eg. as offline when they are really online etc.), buddy names are constantly and irritatingly switched between the ICQ usernames and the alias nicknames that one can define in Proteus itself, and status messages (i. e. "Away") are sent completely arbitrarily, eg. not when a status is changed, but at some arbitrary point afterwards, which often leads to misunderstandings while chatting.

There have been a bunch of updates lately, but none seem to adress these issues. Posts to the forum about these issues on Proteus' website appear to be ignored.

Well, maybe they are working on it. At the moment, though, I feel this is a rather nasty bug for a final release software. Even Fire with its pretty much non-functional buddy-list sync never had problems with this.

Get real, and don't rate all 1 stars because you don't like it. The stars represent real things, not your like or dislike, get real. Even tho I do not prefer proteus, it is a very functional program, more so than adium I must say. It is also much more standardized than adium. I am also post a 5 star rating to counter act your immature 1 star rating. People like you should not be allowed to review. One day I'm hoping proteus will have everything I need, and when that day comes I will be switching to proteus, and not adium. On another note, adium has a lot of developers, and therefore I see so few new features being added in its hardly worth waiting for, everything new is just a bug fix

VIRTUALWOLF  Proteus 3.0.6 was rock-solid for me. Sure, it was lacking in a few areas (no file transfer, for one), but it /worked/. 4.0 is faster, but my groups are getting randomly reorganised, I can't search through the history (Proteus crashes if I do), my custom contact names are getting randomly overwritten, and it keeps converting all backslashes to double quote marks. And there's still no file transfer!

Apparently the developer is aware of the problems and is working on them, and if they're all fixed I'll definitely use 4. But in the meantime, it's back to 3.0.6 for me.

ANONYMOUS  I will have to say that I was quite disappointed with the last major release of Proteus. i found it to be slow, buggy, and crashed all the time. I gave it up and had been u sing Adium since. I felt it was a waste of $10 to donated for 3.0 before it came out, only to have it come out as bad as it did.

I am very impressed with the new 4.0 versions. I think it's a lot more responsive and a lot more stable than pre4.0 versions. I've been using it steady now for about a week and I have not experienced any crashes or other weird show stopping problems.

The only problem I have now is deciding whether to continue using Proteus or go back to Adium. The thing that's keeping me with Proteus right now is the style. It's slick. ;)

"Proteus (registered version) will require activation at first launch, this sends your serial information to the eSellerate application servers along with a machine identifier to validate, and activate your serial number. This will happen just the once to make sure your serial number is valid for that machine. You can use the same serial number on about 3 machines, so you do not require a serial number for each machine."

Since I plow through new models of Apple computers, I probably will not be using Proteus thereafter the three machine identifiers are exceeded. Considering what Proteus does (n IM client) the registration means and methods are a bit of an overkill and in the long-run will hurt Proteus.

JUSTIN (THE DEVELOPER)  Activations time out over a period of time, and you can go through about 8 machines a year, which I think is more than fair. But hey, if you go through more. Email me, and I'll change.. I've been very open about this policy.

The feature is there only for pirating, if a user has any desire for more activations, I'm open to everything on a case by case basis.

T.PLANK  Incredible, I couldn't expect more from a shareware Instant Messaging program. I mean yes, you could expect audio and visual chat with commercial programs, but this is programmed by not a whole team, but one guy, and another working on the services code and stuff. Great interface, hugely customisable, can access any network I'm ever gonna use, and for such a small price. Great product there, definately worth a download.

JOSEPH HUMFREY  I love proteus, especially now it has the iChat bubbling! It's really fantastic, but it's just a shame I have to keep iChat as well in order to keep apple's audio and voice chat features :-( One step towards me migrating to Proteus completely would be if I could customise the buddy list so it looked exactly like iChat's, which I love. I know you can come pretty darn close, but it isn't quite there!

SOGOOD  I have used Fire, Proteus and AdiumX as each developed for quite some time. I have to say that Proteus has come a long way and is fairly mature and some of the GUI waste has been tidied up pretty well with this latest release. However, my current favrourite is AdiumX for its minimalist approach while Fire is second if I am going for function completeness. Proteus is also pretty feature rich but at a price. When the price is divided by zero of the others, it kind of lost out in the scheme of things.

NIGEL  Proteus is the best all-in-one chat client around. Well worth the money to me. Anyone who prefers Fire over Proteus probably also prefers IE over Safari. Bottom line is Proteus has tabbed chatting. Fire does not. I hate having 10 different chat windows open at the same time. Proteus consolidates them into one, very clean window. Not to mention the UI is much prettier than Fire's. With Fire you get what you pay for.

But that's the beauty of the free market. Some are free and some cost. To each, his own. The breadth of selection allows you to pick the one you feel most comfortable w/ on a price/performance basis.

PROTEUS GROWS UP  Now I have to say up front that I am one of those folks who was unhappy with Proteus. As time has marched forward I not only see that the author is responding to the end-users in several ways (donationware vs. shareware, a now great web site, etc.) but Proteus is maturing. I have all the IM's, but Proteus is truly the one that garners the most respect from me, is now the one I prefer the most, and have stayed with the longest with. A neat, efficient, comprehensive package.

DKI  For anyone who is on the fence for paying for this:

Try ADIUM. It's free, more customizable, file transfers (sorta), not a single crash in months (wish I could say the same for proteus), bug fixes within 24 hours (it took proteus 6+ months to fix a bug that would crash the app every time it launched, making you launch the app twice in order to maybe have it open, search their forums if you don't believe me. It affected every single user).

Everything that proteus does, adium does better. Did I mention it's free?

ANONYMOUS  Proteus 4.0b5 is now out on the developer's site; feels snappier than 4.0b2.

Took me about 10 minutes to pare down all the bells and whistles back to the original Proteus interface which I liked because it was just clean text and very fast. The only improvement I've liked after that was the addition of translucent windows when proteus is in the background. BXLBJORN  well it's a big step forward but not yet there. It's still quite buggy, it doesn't remember some of the preferences after quit/relaunch. e.g. The pictures that I add for my users are gone every time, which was not the case with previous versions.

It's got one big thing going for it: MSN is WORKING again, although I don't know for how long.

In any case I'm looking forward to further devellopment (read=debugging) of Proteus and will probably register in the future. But for now I find it a bit arrogant to make us deal with a reminder to register at launch, when so many thing are not yet what they should be. This is after all a BETA version...

One tip to the devellopers: try to include a field in the user information where I can store an additional comment about him/her I wish to remind me of next time I'm speaking to him/her.

first, it gave no proper errors when it was having trouble connecting to msn, and it appeared to just keep retrying over and over without doing anything intelligent ...

secondly, it just froze up completely, couldn't even get in to try and troubleshoot or change the preferences ... even after closing and reopening ...

any time an application can get into a state where you can't change anything, and it also impacts the rest of the system something is seriously wrong in my opinion ...

THE VIRUS  Proteus has many qualities that ive come to love. One is the ability to -easily- sort and organize buddies from multiple services into groups that do not interfere with service specific groups (drag and drop). Fire is far from easy (right click, edit buddy, choose group from pull down menu, save). Another is the ablity to only sound when the -first- message is recieved. The user interface itself could not be simpler and yet still so very customizable. I love the abilty to be able to set foreground, background and status colors , not to mention opacity. Fire does have these options, but they do not seem to be as robust as Proteus. Also, Proteus has a message center, which is indispencable for me. Once you use the messsage center (all your message windows tabbed in one), you'll wonder how you kept all your seperate windows organized. It makes it so very simple, all tabbed out on the side of the message window. I have yet to register my version of proteus, but it works just fine without registration.

However, on the other hand, proteus has its shortcomings. In the years that I have used it, proteus has -never- been able to transfer or recieve files. Which, for me, has been a mixed bag. This has forced me to set up apache on my computer for file transfer/web hosting (including hacking up a file upload php script), which is also a blessing when Im away from the computer. Proteus is also a larger application, which relys on 4 seperate, smaller processes to handle each of the services. Thusly it tends to eat up more resources. I haven't investigated fire as much about how it handles the processes, but it seems like it was all contained inside its one process. Fire seems to be faster, leaner, and designed more by the computer elite. Whom are more conserned about how fast, how secure, and how featured the client is rather than the ease of use. Proteus is sort of the opposite. Proteus also has trouble with group (MSN) chats. It will initiate, but all the users information will stay in seperate boxes, and if you message them back, it will register to them as a private conversation.

Proteus receives 3 in features for the lack of file recieve/transfer, group messaging, but GUI and alerts redeem it from a 1 or 2. Proteus' ease of use could not be better. While the lack of features do not make me want to pay for the software, I would only switch to Fire if Proteus became registered clients only. Thus, it recieves a 3 in value. Stability is not much of a consern, though releases (esp dealing with service changes) are fewer due to the private nature of the program. For this reason, it recieves a 4 instead of the 5 it desirves in this category.

I'd also like to see messaging logging like that of PC's "Dead AIM" program. It saves everything (pictures, file transfers, conversations with time stamps, etc) in a very organized fashion. Hopefully it'll come into play with the advent of file transfers.

Try the other 3rd party clients and you will find yourself blown away by Proteus. Well worth the measley 10 bucks.

ANONYMOUS  This application found itself in my trashcan a minute after I downloaded it.

Once you click past the cute 'please register' dialog box, you can do absolutely nothing. There are no windows. All menu options are grayed out. The readme file and the help files gave absolutely no hint of how to get started.

This isn't an application, it's a pile of useless code.

ANONYMOUS  This is not a review, its a pile of unsubstantiated drivel. If you’re too dumb for using this application, you shouldn’t even try to rate it.

MARCO  This app seems great... but I was testing it, thinking "If it works fine it's worth the price", then dowloaded 3.0.4 and it doesn't work at alle with my 10.2.8 !

Stephanie, fortunately we're still able to get 3.0.3 from their site (indigofield.com).

DORIAN INNES  It appears to be working alright in Panther, but everytime i try and quit the application it just hangs and i end up having to force quit it every single time. It also didnt carry over all my preferences from 1.03. I have it set to keep the buddylist in the bottom right hand corner, but even with the box marked to do that, it starts in the upper right corner every time. Rather annoying little problems i never had while using it in Jaguar. Anyone else having these problems?

PAUL  Well, for me, this application is wonderful, and works just fine under Panther, which was released on October 24th. I laughed at some of these reviews that say "Does not work with Panther" and the review was dated October 1st.

Yes, "Fire" is free but this application as far as UI, features, and so on, far surpasses "Fire". This application is always being improved upon, and while I will not complain about "Fire", I will pay the the fee to have a shareware application that for the most part, does what it says. I like it>

STEPHANIE TOROK  Yeah, 3.04 isn't working under jaguar. Make 3.03 available please?! At least for those who can't get .04 to work!

BJB0MB3RZ  All the hanging up on start comments I've been hearing are coming from Jaguar users.

I've seen it working for Panther users, though. Some panther users anyway.

Maybe the developer tested it in Panther and forgot to/didn't in Jaguar?

FINNIGAN  Version 3.4 is broken. Either it freezes on start-up while loading user history, or, if you delete all your preferences, all the pull-down menus are greyed out. Stick with 3.03 until the next version comes out.

ANONYMOUS  How could be patient since FREE multi-IM clients (even file transfers) works on 10.3?

Proteus's author is a genius, lol.

ANONYMOUS  There are many things that don't work under 10.3 yet. The author knows this and will fix them. Be patient. Sending files is one of those things that doesn't work.

PUNKBABY  Been using this since version 1.0. It's a great application that is always getting better! A few things I'd like to see are: 1) A way to do file transfers (I know this is probably very difficult given the closed nature of the other clients). 2) Have it retrieve buddy info (not just a list of buddies) from the servers (again, probably difficult). 3) The Aqua theme needs a different colored "gum-drop" for people who are idle, the slightly darker shade of green is practically identical in color to the "online" color.

ZAK1974  This app has the best interface, but less features than any of the standalone IM or open-sourced and free Fire.

The international (UNICODE) nicknames are not displayed properly, ICQ service lack buddy search functions, and you can't even see the full buddy profile (photo, interests etc). So it's almost useless to find someone new and interesting to chat to.

File sending not supported, neither the typing indicator is. But thumbs up for unprecedented beaty of the interface. A true Macintosh app in embryon stage.

IMPRESSED  I tried this app for the first time today and it is the greatest! This is what iChat should have been. Why would I use stand alone iChat/AIM, MSN, & ICQ apps when this ties them all together into one neat and tidy interface. The stand alone apps are obsolete as far as I'm concerned. Who cares if they update them until the cows come home. They'll always be proprietary, one dimentional, stand alone apps. I am so impressed with Proteus. It is also extremely configurable unlike the other 'this is what you get' apps. So far it's very stable and works great. Smooth like buttah! The ONLY thing I don't like is the icon, so I copy/pasted the iChat icon into it. So what? Proteus is the only chat app in my dock now.

JAKE  I've been using Proteus for awhile now. Although has been a tad flakey at times, overall its worked great. Its got a excellent interface, its very easy to use and great features. Fire is an ok alternative, but its like tabbed browsing, I can't give up the single window interface Proteus has.

1•18•20  Damn good. Fire is a piece of caRp.

The features are very good, very elegant, so easy and makes every other standalone app redundant, except for iChat AV if you're using an iSight... but i'm not, so HA!

A little unstable though, but that can be fixed.

LOKI  This is the first application of this type that really works well and feels well! Blows any competitors out of the water. I couldn't believe it had all the features i was looking for in a multi-service client. Thank you!

A little more documentation would be appreciated.

MAX  This version of proteus has made me reconsider buying it. if we could have the functionality and stability of Proteus 2.2 with the extra features of Proteus 3 I would send the money tomorrow.

Fire is far too ugly and inconsistent for me to use on a regular basis.... but I simply can't justify paying money for Proteus 3.

ATTILA  Nice app till ver. 3.0, wich is unfonctional, because of ICQ' service permanent disconection. More anoying, the app seems to crash when Alienstech website is down, like if it couldn't work without an online handcheck with the mother server. As a consequence, I use Fire now, wich is a little bit less beautiful, but really more functional and faster than Proteus, and wich ALWAYS works, depending only of the services' servers you need to use.
