EXORZIST  If you need to connect to your computer from outside the local network (so you can't use afp://computer-name.local ), I recommend the free dyndns [.] .com service which maps your ip with a domain-name. "No more ip"--just use a domain name provided by them.

RIP0FF  Because, as you said, Alpha Omega Software is the joke of the mac software community (Others with a less potent sense of humor may think it is a shame or an embarassment)... I suppose MU tolerates it as AOS plays the role of a buffoon for the site.

DOC RENAUD  Check IPmenu. It's free, works great, and does the same thing.

JAZZYGUY  Thanks to the guy that said use BwanaDick! It works great and I put it on all my Macs! I once went for one of AlphaOmega's "apps" if you can call them that. It was a translator app and it was TERRIBLE! BwanaDick does the job and does it with CLASS! Why spend good money on junk like this when Freeware that does the job better is available.

JUKI  Well, it's definiteley way overpriced at $20; I can find nothing about IP Address Menu that justifies the price.

I use BwanaDik; it's free and has essentially the same features.

On checking out the developer's website, I found numerous apps offered, but they're virtually all overpriced(at least $20), considering their lack of sophistication.

ANONYMOUS  "IP Address Menu" does nore than several other applications of this kind. Not only it allows you to know your IP address (in the menu bar, and even with more information in the menu), but sends you notifications of changes by email or by FTP. It allows you to know the IP address of your Mac remotely (even after reboot for example).

ANONYMOUS  Garbage. MenuMeters has this built in (even though you have to click on the 'transmit-receive' menu to display it, but how often do you need to know your exact IP address with second-to-second precision?) and doesn't cost a cent.

JIMW  I use IPMenu for this that does most of all of this and it is free. I agree with some of the other reviews of this regarding too much for too little.

RIP0FF  If you really need to check your IP address 10 times a day, there are 3 freeware apps that fullfill this function right there at MU. Just type "IP address menu" in the search field to find them.

ANONYMOUS  A 2.4 MB shareware app to see my IP address all the time? C'mon! Another senseless & useless app from AlphaOmega. Bah...
