ROFRA  Great program; huge flexibility, clean interface, easy to use although help could use some more detail.

Have been using KeePass, KeePassX - and to some extent iKeePass - for a long time, but now switched to Wallet after checking lots of similar programs.

Syncing with the iPhone-app works like a charm; highly recommendable.

Had one glitch when importing KeePass-data and mailed author; had a reply within hours!

MICG  Nice program features, however ver 2.7 will eventually corrupt it's own

data! I'm searching for something else now.

It's been a shame Mac OS X has such a difficult time with the keychain, Filevault, and password storage apps.

Sync is hardly what I'd consider "busted"; there are some issues, but most are resolvable or can be worked around. If you email we'll help you out. There is also a pretty substantial update coming next week.

GORDON142  This seems like a really nice application. I tried the initial 3.0 release and found Mobileme syncing to be rather buggy. I contacted the developer and was told that syncing would be improved in a forthcoming update. Trusting them, I proceded to purchase both this and the iPhone version. Unfortunately, several updates later, syncing is still virtually unusable. I've sent many support requests, and not once have I received a response since those very early promises. It's like they can't make it work so they have simply decided to end all contact with paying customers. I really have to recommend staying away from this app as the developer treats customers so poorly.

DTRUETT1  As per the last comment, synching via Mobil Me stopped working. Even exporting and importing within Wallet fails to update the most current database.

I have contacted them 3 times in the last month, sending the Console log and a screenshot, with no reply. I can only speculate that Acrylic has laid off their support team. I understand the difficulties of these times, but I’ll be looking around for an alternative. I got this app free, but paid for the upgrade so that I could get support if I needed it.

MACNOOK  Version numbering is seemingly incorrect.

I had version 3.0.1-- date modified December 3rd. Today-- December 23rd-- this "new" version of 3.0.1 is out. Check for updates told me I had the newest version, but I downloaded the update (dated 12-23) anyway. It is a different build (last modified date December 22nd) and...

the syncing now seems to work correctly!

GUIGA  That was a good update from 2.7...

3.0 works a lot smoother and has some new features...

Import can be tricky, but after renaming all fields on 2.7 and reinstalling the hole thing it worked.

special characters in 2.7 were imported as symbols and had to be re-done... Small price for a software that is all that I have asked in my Mac.

Now, regarding IPhone... Who want's a MobileMe account ? I know I don't ! I have tried forever to sync over Wifi (Without the MobileMe account) and while 3.0 tries to connect with the IPhone (At least it finds it when Wallet is on in the IPhone) it just keeps connecting but never does... No pop up screen on the IPhone...

For now, 3.0 is very well worth the upgrade, Wallet for IPhone so far... I Don't know...

GORDON142  The features are very nice, but the real winner is the ability to sync effortlessly with the iPhone version. The easiest way yet I've found to take my important info on-the-go.

Some small bugs when entering contacts, and the import function is pretty clumsy — it only supports CSV files, seemingly, you have to important different CSV files for each category of your old app and import them one at a time, the drag them into the new categories and remap all the fields (it does not seem to preserve the field names in the CSV file, even though the there are present in said file. There is no way to map to the "Notes" field.

J.B.  I think Wallet is absolutely the best password (etc) storage app available for the mac. Strangely it is still the only password app to sync via dotmac. However. The developers seem completely inactive and I was worried that Leopard would be the death of Wallet. Suddenly, an update popped up and Wallet apparently was still being developed. As the previous poster commented, they seem uninterested in returning e-mails and givning the impression that they are actively developing their software. Still, this is a truly great app that, I suppose, could be greater if the devs could be bothered. In my opinion, it is still worth the money despite the apparent indifference.

GCOGHILL  I like Wallet (paid up a year or so ago) but the support is terrible.

I have a import issue (imports don't merge, they only overwrite), and two emails to the developers have gone unanswered. I also sent an email back when I first registered (for what I can't recall), and never got a reply to that one either.

Part of my enthusiasm for shareware is access to the developer. Not even replying to an email is just plain poor business, especially when you have nice software.

Wallet: good; Waterfall Software: not so good.

MAPPINGMAN  Still no scrolling notes. Try entering a REALLY long note. Say, an email confirmation with account details. I asked for this back in September in this space, and months before directly to the developer. I am about to upgrade to Leopard, and I will be making a move to a different password manager as well. I paid for this software, and the development of new features and fixes is painfully slow, and the developer is non-responsive to requests and comments. Too bad, looks like it may be a godd app, some day. Maybe in 10 or 15 years at the rate of development.

MKS  I have tried a couple of password storing apps, and Wallet is now on the top of my list. It isn't flashy, but it doesn't have to be! Wallet is straight forward and I really like how it syncs to my .mac account; that way I'll never lose all my information. I think it's a great value at $15, and if you're a Macheist member you can get it free or chose to have upgrades in the future for 25% off the $15.

ZEROGRAFIX  I just received a copy of Wallet from MacHeist. Now mind you I am already a user of Safe Place which is a similar app, but figured i would give wallet a try. I have to say it looks pretty, it looks like an OSX app and was very excited to try it out. My first gripe is that when i am entering sensitive data, i don't want that data visible on the screen. It would be nice to see the "passwords" or "security codes" actually turn into dots "•••" like most other passwords do. This i feel makes this app a little vulnerable. My second gripe is that, lets say i have a credit card, and that card also has web access to check my account, I have to make 2 records 1 for the CC and one for the website.

These 2 gripes alone will keep me using safe place.

EL_GUAPO  Great little app for storing passwords. Organizing into groups is a nice feature and the primary reason I bought this instead of using free open-source solutions.

It's a bit sluggish when switching from viewing mode to edition mode and when quitting.

Would like a feature that obscures the password and only shows it when you hover the mouse over it much like it does in KeyPassX. This would make it much easier to use when giving demonstrations...

The password generator, while looking cool with it's transparency, is annoying in use. It constantly resets to the default settings and does not give you much of the options available in Password Assistant which comes with the mac.

Brushed metal is sooo 2004. :)

All in all, worth the $14 for personal, single-user use.

LRKIRSCH  2.6 is working fine with 10.4.7 here.

I still wish there was a way to sort entries alphabetically in column view, other than switching to table view, sorting by clicking on the title column twice, and then switching back to column view. (Apologies if I'm missing something.)

Also it might be nice if the columns in table view would remember their widths and order.

Otherwise, Wallet is a great app. I use it at least a couple times every week. Thanks Waterfall.

NAME  - Appearance: It is indeed a nice product, but it has such an ugly entry view with bad fonts and lower case characters at the beginning.

- Features: Well it has many things one need, but the printing is absolutely unacceptable. The lines in the notes entry field are merged with the others, making it inoperable to read. And you can not enter multiple lines in the notes entry field, besides copying and pasting.

- Stability: Sometimes it simply stops launching, and if you have an encrypted database, then everything is gone, really everything you created is gone and forever, I am an IT engineer and I really tried everything but you cannot recover anything and it still stops from launching.

- Support: None of my crash reports and bug reports were answered, they didn't help me recover my passwords. Lastly they did not say anything at all.

DAVIDSCULLY  Wallet is simply the best password (and other data storage device on the market) and is cheap as well. Most other applications I have used have really bad interfaces and are filled with useless features like multiple encryption methods or strange data presentations. Wallet is not bloated and uses one of the best methods out there while managing to keep it a beautiful piece of software. The one click lock feature is crucial as prying eyes can pass over my computer screen. When your done all you have to do is quit and Wallet clears your clipboard. My data can be synced with a .Mac account for backup purposes. Wallet is great.

The only things I dislike about Wallet are some little bugs here and there, but no real huge ones. Oh, on slower computers Wallet tends to flicker when scrolling through entries but hopefully the developer will rewrite it so it runs efficiently.

DMU  I like Wallet. I like Wallet more than most. And a password/SN storage program that was fast, easy, and secure was important to me... so I tried them all. Over and over again. So many came close, but lacked this or that, took too long for this or that, etc. I even purchased PasswordRetriever and then decided to open my wallet again. Wallet was a front runner for round 2. But it lost out to the $5 cheaper Steel. I've been extremely satisfied at last -- for a full year now. Wallet's not a bad way to go, but I'd suggest you check out Steel.

OSXFACTOR  On your suggestion, I tried Steel. It's a nice little storage app, but it doesn't have a fraction of the featureset of Wallet. It doesn't do .Mac export, it doesn't do password generation, it doesn't automatically lock the app after a certain amoutn of inactive time, it doesn't have a persistent database (meaning I have to save my data manually everytime I add something). I like the interface (very Wallet-esque), and the icon, but otherwise, Steel does about 20% of what Wallet does for 60% of the price.

If $6 is going to break the bank, and you can live without all of the features above, use Steel. Otherwise, $15 is a steel for a program that does all that Wallet does.

CRUCIAL  Buggy, buggy, buggy. This thing crashes on me every few minutes. Miss a button by a few pixels BLAM its gone (as has your work). Change a group icon BLAM the damn thing crashes - and you lose everything AGAIN. This after not being able to install the thing because I had an old version on my drive and had to delete all the old preferences and associated files before 2.5 would even launch.

To release this as a final build and charge for it is criminal, to call it a beta would be stretching it. Alpha would be closer to reality. STAY AWAY until 2.5.1 or 2.5.2.

Look closely at their site and you see Waterfall Software is a bunch of teenagers. Thats probably why support takes several days, and registration numbers are often not mailed out. Where do I get a refund ?

The crashing problem is obviously an isolated one. If the same crash happened all the time for everyone we surely would have heard about it by now from our beta testers or customers.

As for your "teenager" comments, they are out of line. Our support record is fine, and registrations are sent out *automatically* (we BCC ourselves on every registration to make sure it is sent), some simply disregard checking their spam filters.

DRFRANK  Now, that's what I'm talking about! Version 2 of Wallet had potential - version 2.5 begins to deliver on the promise. Contrary to what has been written, this is a significant update. I'm a long time Web-Confidential user and recent switcher. Why? I'm a fan of Wallet's straightforward information storage paradigm. It's a speedy Universal app that's fun to use. I'll write again if I discover any significant Wallet problems after further testing. I'm also evaluating SecretBook. RGREEN517  This is a good product, it would be a great product if it synced with .Mac automatically so desktop to Laptop would always be in sync.

SUBLINEAR  Agreed - A black wallet would look good in the app icon...

ANONYMOUS  I really like the app, and sure while TextEdit could keep your passwords too, it couldn't do it with this elegant user interface. The iPod syncing especially is great, and I use the app for more than just serial numbers - movie showtimes, shopping lists, etc. just seem easier to get onto my iPod this way.

And although I really like the app icon, the colouring is too close to Address Book's. I'd like to see a black wallet.

ANONYMOUS  Crap!

I found that simply creating a gmail account serves the same purpose and can be accessed from any computer. Plus, this program can pretty much be summed up as a notepad with a lock.

Try the combination of textedit and filevault.

STEVE STREZA  This is a very nicely knit app that really lets you manage all that other data in a secure way. I don't normally feel comfortable leaving credit card info open on my computer like this, but with Wallet I do.

Wallet 2 really delivers on the premise of keeping data both secure and handy, and is well worth the money.

LOL  Filevault and Textedit?!

Surely you jest!

Filevault is incompatible with a lot of apps, for a start.

TED LEE  Well, I paid for this earlier this week via PayPal, and 3 days later I've yet to receive my serial number to use the program. I've sent a request to the developer, and it has gone unanswered. I'm really hoping they deliver it, because it is a nice program.

ANONYMOUS  This program seems to have a BACKDOOR! Apparently there is a "bypass" password that you can use to open ANY file. Ouch!

BASTI  Hmm. You can do most of this stuff using Address Book and iCal and Stickies. It's written in REALbasic, GUI-technically a masterpiece if you consider that it has been made using REALbasic. Unfortunatly no support for Mac OS X Toolbars. Price is _by far_ too high!

JDE  Not very good... and I think I was censored on his forum for saying the app needed tweeking. Such simple things as the SEARCH feature do not even work as they should. This app really needs work. It is, to say the least, not a version 1.
