JORGEN  AlphaX seems to have been kicked back alive. Check out the latest version at http://pagesperso-orange.fr/bdesgraupes/alphabinaries.html

Looks good.

JAIMESC  Excellent - I'm delighted to see a return since I'm always plugging Alpha but am beginning to be the but of jokes.

Small changes and good ones: Improved access to many frequently used things, and much improved menu organisation - all without changing the existing functionality.

I am re-energised in spreading the use of Alpha.

JUAN FALGUERAS CANO  I have been using Alpha (now AlphaX) many years ago. I've try BBedit and others. Alpha is different in many aspects. Alpha is like a programming environment in itself. It has embedded Tcl as programming language. You probably will find yourself loving that powerful language. MacOSX cames with it out of the box. Alpha Tcl has a lot of work made by many many programmers (real programmers) in it. It covers many languages (La-TeX, C/C++, Python, Perl, Ruby, Obj-C, SQL, XML, HTML with three longs specialized menus, etc, etc.)

It is shareware and have been there before BBedit were.

You mut try it!!

****.

PACHEC  AlphaX is an excellent, highly customizable editor, especially for programming. But real customization is hard if you haven't good programming skill.

However, a very important lacking feature is encoding support: presently, only macRoman is supported; therefore AlphaX is hardly usable for files using other encodings.

Latest versions of AlphaX for Panther and Jaguar can be found at:

PROFAD  AlphaX is very slagishly updated, if at all. I used to work with it in the past, but the truth is that it has never really recovered from the OS9->OSX transition. It is quite obvious, the deterioration started that day the legendary Pete Keleher left command. He is the only one capable to return the glory of AlphaX. At the moment, TexShop has no living competitors!

ENDE  Long awaited new release of this carbon swiss army and extremately easy programmable text editor. Things that Alpha makes are yet far, far away in others and you easily can modify it to your needs as programmer or TeX editor.

This b16 corrects many bugs (this program has many functionalities).
