JEFF CRANFORD I echo the positive review of this program. I have been using it for almost a year now. It's interface is simple, but you can make this program do almost anything you need to for note taking. It accepts all the file formats I've needed, the encryption of pages in the PRO version is VERY useful, and the scripting abilities are well explained and available - but there is no need to use them if customization and programming aren't your thing. I have a ton of great applications on my Mac but this is one I use EVERY day. (Version 4.2.2)

BLOOMSDAY This is a unique application. Its purpose is user-defined. You will need to determine how its structure and workflow can best suit you. It may take a few days. It may take a few weeks. But when it hits you, VoodooPad's value will reveal itself. I use it as a journal that swallows any file I choose to dump into it. And I dump everything into it. Its wiki style brings all of the randomness together. I love this thing. This VoodooPad. The more you use it, the better it gets. That is for certain. (Version 4.1)

Then counter on macupdate tells the story as does versiontrackers. It looks like developers site is down most of the time. Is this being looked into?: (Version 4.0.3)

LARRY R A wonderful tool for organizing and gathering information. I have been using it for over a year and it is really proven its worth. For the money it is a great deal. There is nothing out there that comes close to this tool. In addition to a find piece of software, the developer is very responsive and pays attention to comments and issues. (Version 4.0)

Originally VooDooPad was only $9.95, and right it's 30 dollars, and I, um, just keep on raising the price and nobody's complaining. They keep on buying it. DREMWKR I find vPad essential. It just gets better and better. The developer Gus is responsive and I couldn't ask for better support or someone to listen to ideas for improvement (a rare thing-Try that with any Adobe product). ¥Its wiki interface does what I need it to, even advanced things. ¥It just works. GEORGEDONNELLY VP is in a class of its own. It is an innovation, and the developer keeps on innovating. Its an integral part of my workflow. I purchased a license for an earlier version and would do so again for this latest version, however I have not been able to reach the website for months. Please check your firewall settings Flying Meat, and allow us visitors from South America please (200.* .*.*). Thanks. (Version 3.1.5)

EMIKYSA I have been using VoodooPad for over a year and a half and I absolutely love it. My VP document has over 2000 pages in it - everything from warranty information about products I've purchased, to notes from calls with customer service reps, to work plans and logs, to brainstorms, to task-lists, etc, etc. I believe that VP is the 'missing link' in computing. It allows users to easily and intuitively store, manage and retrieve data and information. Before VP I tried a variety of other systems to manage information. I found that using separate files in a regular directory structure was too cumbersome and I found other "notebook" style applications too regimented/segmented. Some other systems initially seemed promising, but nothing I tried was intuitive or easy enough for me to keep using it every day. I was thrilled when I came across VP because with it allows me to work without getting in my way. I don't often post software reviews, but this is truly an exceptional application. If you play around with the free version for a bit and think about the possibilities you'll likely quickly know whether or not VP is the right application for you. Erik Mikysa (Version 3.1.5)

STRIDEY As GTFO says, VP's main strength is its functionality. Although it hides behind the simple exterior of "wiki-based notepad," it is flexible enough to be used for almost any text-related purpose (and many non-text-related purposes). Also, the developer (Gus Mueller) is infinitely helpful and extremely pleasant to interact with. Great app by a great guy. I can't think of anybody who should regret shelling out $25 for this app. (Version 3.1.1)

GTFO I have been using VDP for almost three full years and I'd reco it to anybody. It may not be as glitzy as a few other notepads, but its functionality is excellent. Early on Gus gave me some guidance on some custom scripting that save me dozens of hours. Great product, great support, great stability. (Version 3.1.1)

F D YOCUM This is a handy swiss army knife of an application. The basic concept remains simple. Highlight some text press Cmd+L and you have a new page and a new automatically hypherlinked word or word set. The new palettes and tabbed windows just increase its effectiveness. I use it for organizing notes, application tips, contacts. Flexible and free form, you can organize pages and documents it the way you want them. The developer is very responsive and the program continues on an upward climb usability. I've bought it for work and home. (Version 3.0.1)

JNORTHOFF After using the lite version for some time I bought the program and I'm happy with it. I like the approach to note taking that makes it feel like writing websites as there're links and styling possibilities like different fonts, lists, tables. Another plus is that the author replies quickly and helpful to emails/ forum posts - definitely better than what some of the big companies out there call support. To go with MacUpdate's ranking I would state that it's: (i) Feature rich as it supports text styling and tables (tables with border and background styling). And that sketch feature is quite neat: one can doodle with different colors and paste the drawing as image into the page. Encryption of single pages is cool as well. The only thing missing in my opinon is some aquivalent for drawing a horizontal line to separate certain stuff on a page. (four out of five points) (ii) Easy to use as the GUI is clean and has a good overview over the important options. Additionally it has useful shortcuts so one has not to use the mouse all the time. And after pressing the delete button for a page it actually asks whether one really wants to delete the page - saved me quite some notes. (five out of five points) (iii) Value is good for 25 USD imho although some may think that that's quite some money for a note taking program. I'm glad more and more companies (including this one) accept PayPal for buying as I'm a European lacking a credit card. (four out of five points) (iv) Stability: didn't crash, no lost data - all going well for me even as I paste small images into my notes. (five out of five points) (Version 2.5.3)

T Wicked! I knew about this app, but never really tried it, until now. I'm beginning to like it very much. I'm coming from all kinds of apps, like OmniOutliner, Hog Bay Notebook, and Circus Ponies NoteBook. Each is wonderful in its own way - I especially like Hog Bay Notebook. But VoodooPad is now my favourite thought-pad. (Version 2.1)

ANONYMOUS Wow, I thought the developer would *never* add an unlinking option, the missing feature that made the app unusable for me. I saw comments on the VP forums as far back as version 1 requesting unlinking, so I don't know why the developer dragged his heels on it for so long (it almost seemed like the developer didn't understand why people would want to unlink), but I'm finally excited again about using VP. The other new features look extremely useful too. Now I have several compelling reasons to upgrade my registration from version 1. (Version 2.1b1)

MATHIAS MEYER A great tool for sure. I've been looking for a Wiki-like notepad application for ages until I found VoodooPad which was exactly what I needed. While I need something for outlining (tried OmniOutliner first), I also wanted something to put my knowledge base in to be able to say good bye to the unordered and unrelated Stickies. And VoodooPad is a balance between both, in my eyes at least. The export to iPod feature totally convinced me to buy it (you know, to get that fuzzy warm feeling for supporting indenpendent Mac developers ;) Great tool for putting down your thoughts, ideas and connecting them semantically. Excellent tool! (Version 2.0.2)

ANONYMOUS I've tried just about every notepad type application available and this is the only one different enough from the standard 'list of notes + text view' that anyone with development experience can write in an hour to be worth paying for. vpstash looks like a killer feature! MATTHIAS DAMM This software is absolutely marvellous. I use it to organize quite a large amount of information for my Ph.D. thesis, and it has turned out to be much more flexible and easy-to-use than a "old-fashioned" and yet very relyable. The autor also offers great support, bugs are fixed in no-time and I managed to get some feature requests into this beta... Definitely one of the most important applications I am working with. SHAWN Actually I don't see how this product fails to be a "Tinderbox Lite". Specially now that 2.0 has plug-in support.. it won't take much longer till someone has a mini-mapping image builder widget thingie. :) You know, a thingie. Still, like Tinderbox... I see this application as so open-ended and flexible, it becomes what you make it. Anyway, the new sketch pad gives VoodooPad the edge over many notetaking apps for Mac OS X. Sketching brainstorm notes is much QUICKER then trying to lay out some neatly organized diagram chart. (Version 2.0b1)

EPK Yeah Chris, a humbug with 1st price in O'Reilly's Mac OS X Innovators Contest. In all, I think it's a bit unfair to place a poor review based on your wrong expectations about software ? Why didn't you try first before purchasing ? I've been using VoodooPad from first public version can only give 5 stars. It has become my number one app. It's stable, lightweight, well designed and seems to be developing in good way. It's not, overbulged with features but fulfills it's purpose perfectly: as a notebook, general hypertext editor, data organiser, even website editor, and whatever you can think for. I agree, the documentation is sparse, but disagree strongly about support. There is mailing list and website for support and the author is really responsive and open for feature requests. It's a really cool app, can't live without anymore, and no, I'm not a 'wiki type' either ;-) Absolutely worth of 20 bucks, I would pay even more. (Version 1.1.1b2)
