LEFTCOASTINNYC I jumped the gun with my last comment. Application frequently closes down with iTunes 6, and, despite presets in preferences, it doesn't automatically share album artwork with iTunes 6. I wish Cedric was still around to troubleshoot. R.I.P.

SEEK I am also experiencing problems with Sofa. My problems where with itunes 5 and 6. The error I get is "Runtime Failure: Failed Assertion. Please report what caused this error, along with the information below. dump.cpp: 129 0 overwrote start of block" I have tried deleting all sofa preferences. But the problem remains. Oddly, on old .5 version of the application that I still had is working. However, it is quite a bit different and less polished than this version. It's ashame someone else can't get the source code and continue on developing this application. I'm sure he would have wanted that.

CREM Cedric Menard, the french author of this soft, has passed away on the 13th feb 2005. So I think there won't be any further development. I regret this because Sofa is a very good app. Now, every new iTunes update may alter the stability of this soft. I use iTunes 6.0.4 on OS X 10.3.9 and Sofa quit unexpectedly with no apparent reason. Otherwise, it is a very powerfull and fully customizable app. Thanks 2 Cedric !

ANONYMOUS I've just come back to this page after using Sofa for a year to look for any updates as it has continued to serve me well all this time. I am very sorry to hear that Cedric has passed away. I emailed him a couple of times and always received generous support. I suggested he should be pricing Sofa but it was evidently not his style. Sofa remains my player of choice and now at the very least he lives on through my desktop.

ROBIN HAMILTON-PENNELL Unfortunately, Cedric Menard, the developer of this app, passed away on February 17th (I just found out about this today). It's unclear why--but he will be missed. May he rest in peace. From a post (http://www.macplus.net/forum/sutra78225.html), in French, by his sister: I am Sandrine Menard: sister of Cedric Menard, creator of the software SOFA. He died 13 February (see depeche mac plus I am seeking people who had contact with my brother or who used his software, in order to collect their testimony to create a book to honor him.... To know my brother offered his software to the whole world. His intent was from the first to bring his passion to life, and not just to [make money]. He was a perfectionist!!!! and in his eyes, there was always something to do and to redo to make it better... he worked whole nights to be able to satisfy the users of his software.... Thanks to all those who would like to respond.

NICKBURNS Great app, but I would love for the next version to allow Sofa to update iTunes art automatically as it played. I was told that this was possible, but it has never worked for me unless I manually right-click on the displayed art and tell Sofa to "Share with iTunes".

JAMES I like this program very much. The transparency of the display window is great, and it functions pretty well, so I don't have to look at the ugly iTunes interface all the time. For aesthetes, this program will please. I have not had any stability issues with it. It downloads pictures like it should.

ANDREW HAAS I have been having the same problem-it downloads the album art but then crashes. you reopen the program and it works fine until the next song with out any album art, where it crashes upon downloading the picture.

on the site (in the plugins area), there is an application called Sofa Debug. It's a sort of a monitor/bug-reporter for Sofa. Could you make a try with it, and report me the result ? Thanks!

SEAN I gave it a try on Sofa when it was in early version.. It was okay as an app to show album artwork, but nothing more than that.. After all it was really unnecessary, and I stopped using it.. Now I happen to use it again, and it stunned me with incredibly improved functions.. I really love this app!! Keep up the good work!!

SHINZA.COM I installed 0.4a8 and opened the preferences window, only to find that clicking on any interface element did nothing but produce a system beep. Couldn't close the window or even quit the app. Had to force quit. I love the idea, but the implementation is still half baked. Looking forward to a stable release!
