RICHARD KLANCER University users, Authoxy worked great for me for the following application: Many university libraries allow home access to site-licensed journals via a .pac (secure auto proxy configuration) file. OS X version 10.3.2 and above allow you to specify the location of the .pac file that you need for journal access, _but_ Safari fails to recognize that you also need to enter a password and username to access the journals, leaving you high and dry. To fix this, set up your local web proxy information as in the Authoxy documentation, then start Authoxy, giving it your library username and password where it says "Proxy Authentication Details" and giving it the location of the .pac file where it says "Use this automatic configuration (.pac) file". Voila, site licensed journal content, visible in any browser. (Version 3.1.1) |
