BETHRO  An absoute God send of a program!!

After three years of living at a University in Melbourne and trying to get my Mac to intergrate with the system, i have finally found this program, and now it seems that ALL my problems are solved!!

System Update now works, as does Akype, Hotmail (which i could only ever access through IE and not Safari), the iTunes song direcotry auto naming thingi, and many other websites that were constantly asking for my username and password, such as MSN weather. I would highly recommend to anyone connecting over a proxy network.

PZARKER  for somereason i cant dowload it, i have tried to dl it from eveyr page, and i always get redirected to the developers page's download, and when that page loads, its just a bunch of symbols and jaragon, so if anyone has it and would like to email it to me that woudl be great, or if anyone can tell me why i can't download it. thanks!

ANONYMOUS  I've been having trouble accessing anything that gioes through .asp or .aspx with authoxy (such as several sites with "logins"). I'm not sure if I'm an isolated case, but I was checking to see if anyone else has had these issues.

RICHARD KLANCER  University users, Authoxy worked great for me for the following application:

Many university libraries allow home access to site-licensed journals via a .pac (secure auto proxy configuration) file.

OS X version 10.3.2 and above allow you to specify the location of the .pac file that you need for journal access, _but_ Safari fails to recognize that you also need to enter a password and username to access the journals, leaving you high and dry.

To fix this, set up your local web proxy information as in the Authoxy documentation, then start Authoxy, giving it your library username and password where it says "Proxy Authentication Details" and giving it the location of the .pac file where it says "Use this automatic configuration (.pac) file".

Voila, site licensed journal content, visible in any browser.

SEEDUB  i have trouble with the startAuthoxy program failing. i've reinstalled twice per it's suggestion, and it still fails. Authoxy itself is stable as the day is long, but without startAuthoxy working i have to launch it manually after login. minor problem, but a problem nevertheless.

LARRY BALLARD  Fabulous! Solved that pesky problem to 10.2 not being able to access software update (like it used to in 10.1). Can also access the iTunes music store and other useful sites. Make sure to carefully read the instructions, as there are a few simple steps, but you must follow all of them!!!

JON  Authoxy is a great tool which allowed my OS X systems to use Software Update from behind a Microsoft ISA firewall. It adds authentication information to any network traffic.

The setup isn't exactly intuitive, but this isn't a tool that most people need. If you've configured a firewall, then you should have the skills to install this.

Overall, a great tool, because it addresses oversights that neither Apple nor Microsoft have figured out yet.
