SPLUNK23  Its still pretty weak compared to apps like CamFrog.

Its in dire need of a makeover now, as its so dated.

The incompetent morons running it don't do it any favours either.

MAC0852  This is garbage and run by buffoons with zero clue about what constitutes real customer service. Often being rude towards paying users instead.

And evidently little work is put in by the developer these days, which hardly helps matters.

That is why iVisit has next to no users anymore, and is now superseded by programs like camfrog ( www.camfrog.com ) which is far more advanced compared with ivisit.

Logged in iVisit users = 600 at best. Logged in Camfrog users = 70'000+. So they must be doing something right that ivisit clearly is not.

While im here: MacJoker. The joke is on you as it is obvious you are directly associated with ivisit too, just like cowzilla, as no users would be retarded enough to give this rubbish 5 stars.

Btw, its "excellent" with 2 L's.

iVisit needs consigning to history and deserves no stars and no awards.

Even the perverts dont use it anymore! Thats how bad it is. lol

iVisit shot itself in the foot and is going down....................

For Mac and Pc.

Most of the features can be used in the FREE version.

EXCELENT.

iVisit needs an award, not only stars!!!

MAC0852  Call this an update? It still looks frikkin hideous. like its 10 years old! Seriously guys, fix up the UI and get rid of that incompetent buff moron while you are at it.

btw cowzilla.. read up on the rules here.

"Note: Developers, please don't unethically post star rating reviews to your own products or you will be added to a public Developer Blacklist"

REDLAC  Earlier comments on "perverts" at iVisit is goofy... it's impossible to stumble across the "Adult Neighbourhood" at iVisit. A person has to ask at their Help Desk for particulars on accessing that area. So Bloodhound... you get what you seek!

iVisit offers a Help Desk staffed day and night by people from around the world who are happy to help. Where else do you find that?

COWZILLA  There is a lot of slander here and very poor "opinions" not true reviews of the iVisit application. Sad to see such a great app being bashed by people who haven't truly learned all there is to know.

For me personally iVisit is a wonderful video conferencing communication tool that I use both personally to see/hear my family abroad as well as for business use. It's a great cross platform app working well on both my Macbook (Intel) and PCs. So many excellent features, video, audio, text chat, group conference rooms or private connections, file sharing, web sharing, screen sharing, instant messaging on or offline, file transfer, drag-n-drop streaming of MP3 and movie files, conference recording and more. For me it's a do-all application that works just great! In fact, I've been using it for 6 years now and yes, I have tried all the alternatives out there

They offer a Free Lite Account and a Paid Plus Account with quite a few additional features unlocked. See their web site side by side comparison:

M. LUTHER  7-8 years ago when iVisit was beta and then the 1.0 version was released, it was a great app. Of course, most folks only had dial-up back then, so you got like 0.1 fps, but audio was very good. It was still very cool. PC folks had a lot of compatibility issues, but that will always be the case. The program just worked on the Mac.

Today you have free programs like iChat AV and SightSpeed for videoconferencing, which produce very good results with broadband everywhere, and they are constantly being updated. iVisit looks the same and has the same basic features as it did 7 years ago, except now you gotta pay $50/yr to use it. Not only that, it has become populated with perverts and the type of people willing to use their CC for pron sites. It's sad to see this piece of software stuck back where it was years ago and for its online community to tranform into what it is today.

Even when iChat first came out many Mac users (myself included) still promoted iVisit as the premiere videoconferencing solution for the Mac. In the past couple of years I don't think I have seen one person recommend iVisit as an alternative for videoconferencing.

ANONYMOUS  This program was great 5-10 years ago. And now its just a rough old app that looks like it is the same 5-10 years old, or more! Needs bringing up to date.. Interface is pretty user unfriendly, plus iVisit doesn't conform to any commonly used Mac OS standards.

As if that was not bad enough, it seems to be run by egotistical megalomaniacs hell bent on killing off its ailing community.

It has small video's (unless you pay to upgrade, and it is not worth it) plus audio and video performance are a long way behind the alternatives now.

Plus this program only gets a couple of minor updates a year, if that. $50?? No thanks..

Was a great program, now gone sour..

JENS OFFERSEN  This app is a must have for everyone sitting on a Mac trying to have a videochat with a buddy or family on a Pc

I have tried just about every solution there is other than buying a Pc, but that's never gonna happen.

iVisit does it flawless, It is 20 times faster that Yahoo Messenger which is the only I ever got working. The sound is crisp and clean. The resolution is pretty good on the Lite ver. and is all I need. And it's stable, been talking with my brother for 5-6 hours a week for a while now and never once have it crashed

The only thing that need some work is the interface, it ain't exactly Apple interface, but it doesn't really matter, after 2 or 3 times you know how to use it.

I love it!

5 out of 5

ANONYMOUS  Poorly ported program from MacOS9, the interface needs to be updated to osx standards very sorely. As it is, it doesn't make a lick of sense how one is supposed to join rooms. There's no menu item for it. Changing prefs is under the settings menu, I could go on.

This program needs alot of work, it needs to be brought into the 21st century, don't bother until they overhaul it to be a proper OSX native app.

AM  PB G3 400 Pismo, 512MB, DSL/Dial-up, Logitech Quickcam 4000 Pro (USB)

Great and Stable Program - BUT

- audio is virtually a no-go. Video is excellent and even with ivisit lite its great.

The app itself is a very stable one compared to others like Yahoo Messenger etc..

The only way i got video and audio to work at the same time - is to use ivisit for Video and Skype for Audio - its redundant and so if one fails at least we know whats going on!

Again a stable app - though the interface is a Classic like.

I will most likely get the ivisit plus anyway!

EFFECTOR  What they don't tell you in the description is that if you're an "iVisit Lite" user (non-paying) holding a private conference outside of a chatroom, YOU'LL NOW BE SLAMMED WITH A 30-MINUTE TIME LIMIT and a 90-minute hold-down on video conferencing. That is to say, after 30 minutes incoming video will just stop. If the other person is a Plus user, they'll still be able to see you. You can still type together. After 90 minutes, video will start working again, for another 30 minutes. The party had to end eventually - that time is now.

BRISA  How make this ivisit work on OS X without Classic? Easy: just ask a friend or someone who has Classic and run the installer on it. Then, you can use the program normally on your Jaguar, for example. It works properly, you donĀ“t need Classic to have it working. Now I am happy again.

MYSTICALOS  This version still hasn't been posted on ivisit webpage. There is an X version available there for 2.8 with a package installer and all. I'm running 2.9a1 in X but i did have to install with classic, and on top of it get info on it and disable "run in classic mode" on program itself. Runs fine in X after that but i wonder why they checked classic mode in first place? Probably same reason installer is OS 9, this build probably isn't OS X solid as 2.8a3 is. But concidering 2.9 offers a new address book i couldn't find a SINGLE user on since everyone still stays on old directory, the need to update right now is usless anyways :) Give them credit for having the ONLY free app that does voice chat in OS X. Let's see Yahoo! and AIM do that. :)

KEVIN THE MAC DADDY  After trying out so many Mac-based video conferencing apps, I'm pretty convinced that iVIsit is the best... (Let's not forget that it's FREE!!). The iVisit 2.8a2 installer works only in OS 9 (classic mode) but don't worry... the app itself works in OSX natively. A few interface issues but otherwise the functionality is exactly similar to the OS 9 version. Well done! Keep it up! :)
