DEAN REINHEIMER I began using Online Bible (Mac) waaay back in the OS9 days. It was a real blessing and help through my three years at a Bible Institute, helping me to study, write papers, prepare sermons, etc. A friend in school had the Windows/Microslop version and I just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. I've tried many, many other programs but ALWAYS keep coming back to OLB Along those lines, is it just me or was the learning curve on Accordance a little "steep"? I find the search capabilities in OLB are AWESOME! whether searching by English words, Greek/Hebrew words, or even by Strong's numbers! Adding my personal notes/studies/commentaries at each verse is a great advantage too! OH yes, I need to praise the developer's response time as being TREMENDOUS too!!! (even if it was a LOOOONG wait for a native OSX version) Personally, I'd like to see the interface in OLB updated to a more "Mac-like" presentation. (Version 4.0.4)

MICG Incredible Bible and reference collection. I'm beyond impressed - I'm amazed at the quality of such Bible program as this v3.5.1 which I use in Classic. Get it. (Version 4.0.4)

TONYLAWRENCE I have been a OLB user for many years and appreciate it quick and fast capabilities. Recently also purchased Accordance. There is a place for both programs. For quick searches and a wealth of somewhat older material you cannot beat OLB. The "Copy Verses" feature far exceeds everyone else's implementation. For original language searches, more current resources Accordance beats any Bible study software on any platform. I am thankful for both. (Version 4.0.3)

SMKSENSEI After an incredibly long beta testing, I'm glad to see this has finally released. The interface hasn't changed much over the long used classic version, which is both a positive (for us old-timers) but perhaps a liability for those newer to the Mac experience. Hopefully soon many of the texts will also be updated. (typos, etc.) I know the Byzantine Greek text has been completely revised since the 2001 edition and needs to be replaced with the 2006+ edition. With new and updated texts, hopefully on the new CD's I'm sure the value will be much more than the cost. I've found, however, in the long wait, that MacSword is so much more intuitive, flexible, and easy to use. (More OS X-like) The only thing really lacking in MacSword are the copyrighted texts. MACNEWS Just so you know: This guy has been responsible for not only the OS X version, but in the past the Classic version. It's not his day job. He's done a wonderful job thus far. (Version 3.9.10y36)

MACSWEEP To those who are complaining about the free vs. paid CD-ROM versions: They are one in the same application. The copyrighted material in the modules are what costs, due to royalties to the copyright holders. Pubic domain versions of the Bible are free and are downloadable. (Version 3.9)

CARL878 This is the finest program for Bible study I have seen to date. I have found this MAC version to be flawless even when I haveover 50 study search pages open at once. The only deficiency is the limit on the number of verses that can be copied at once which is 200(even with the King James version which is not copyrighted). Since there is a work around I gave it a five (5) rating for features and ease of use. Before the work around I would have given it a four in each of these. This version is not to be confused with the PC version which is written by an entirely different group of programmers and is greatly inferior in ease of use and its other features. (Version 3.9)

ANONYMOUS Online Bible 3.9 would seem still to be a beta and not a full version. However in my view the beta looks good and seems to be fairly stable. OLB itself is free but the modules that come with it are not. This means that it you want to use OLB to the full, you need to buy the CD and the deluxe CD at that, which contains all the essential translations including the NIV. Its a good application though and it looks great in OSX. (Version 3.9)

CARL878 The latest version is currently 3.9.7 as shown in the get-info window. When installed, the version number may still say it is 3.9.0 but it is the new version and there are changes. (Version 3.9)

ANONYMOUS Been using the Classic version of this for years and it is the best. I prefer it over MacSword. I can't wait until they release a final version of this for OSX. Great job guys! I would advise to lable this as a beta version on here somewhere and not just as 3.9, but rather 3.9b3 or something. Thanks! *Also, there ARE other free modules, other than what comes with it, available for download from the site. (Version 3.9)

DAMIAN "This is the exact same file as the beta....I guess I'll wait until 4.0 in a few years and see if there has been any improvement. -sigh-" Be of good cheer, holy pilgrim. The Online Bible is exactly like Jesus, "The same, yesterday, today and tomorrow." In other words, you could say that the software never changes. Nor should it. (Version 3.9)

DAMIAN So what's going on here? MacUpdate says this software is free. Once you download the software or if you go to the developer's website, you find this information: "Macintosh Classic CD-ROM - $39.95 ($49.95 Canadian) Including the Manual. Macintosh Deluxe CD-ROM - $89.95 ($129.95 Canadian) With NIV, NASB, NKJB, NLT and NRSV royalties prepaid, including the Manual." So...either it's free or it costs up to $90.00. So which is it? It would seem that the developer employs a similar startegy to that of the American evangelical religionists. They tell you "You only have to believe to be saved." But of course just to "believe" means you have to sacrifice everything, including your intellect, free will, and common sense. In order to get the software, you're lured in with an offer of free software. When you download the software, you find out that to use it, you have to "tithe" a sizeable chunk of money to the corporate collection plate . (Version 3.9)

ANONYMOUS Highly recommended software for serious students of the Bible. I've used the classic version for years and am happy to finally see an OSX version. Damien: If you would check the website you'd find that non-copyrighted modules are free (and there are plenty). You can buy a CD if the download time/expense would be prohibitive or if you want or need the copyrighted modules. BTW - Did I mention that you're bigoted comments are offensive and have no place in a software review. (Version 3.9)

DOUG I have been waiting for this for sometime. This is great to be native in OSX. This program is very useful for searching, reading, and performing detailed studies. It also lets you create your own bible study topics and notes. This is great. I was recently took on the challend of reading the whole old testament in a month. I could not have made it through Jeremiah and Isaiah without having Online Bible read it to me.

ANONYMOUS This is the exact same file as the Beta. I don't know why it took 3 years to release a carbon version nearly identical to the classic 3.5.1 Only a few changes on the tool bar. I still don't understand why an app can't automatically find it's own modules when they are placed in the appropriate folders. It's a heck of a hassle to have to set up every note, every text, and every topic. (or have I been missing something??) also, it would be nice to have some sort of import or cross-compatability with the Windows OLB modules which have multiplied ten-fold. After this long of a wait, I'm sad to say, this is a huge disappointment, though it seems perfectly stable. I would have gladly paid for this if a better product resulted. Instead, I've forked out a good amount of money and now have Accordance occupying the disk space that OLB used to have. It is the best Biblical Research tool on any platform bar none. (and I've used them all with a Biblical languages background) I guess I'll wait until 4.0 in a few years and see if there has been any improvement. -sigh- (Version 3.9)

DARREN FINALLY! :-) I've been beta testing 10.3.9 for about a month or so and have found it 100% stable. Virtually identical to the OS 9 OLB w/exception of the toolbar. Something I'm finding now that I've also got QuickVerse for OS X, been using MacSword, played with Accordance -- I'm sick and tired of the multi-window apps that have been a hallmark of Mac for so many years. Frankly, I want to see e-sword (http://www.e-sword.org) for OS X. To me, hands-down, it is the best out there in terms of layout. When you search a scripture, the right "pane" of the window where the dictionary, commentaries, etc. are -- if there's a reference to the scripture, each shows an icon denoting "Hey, I've got info on this!". I guess I'm a little disappointed with some of the Bible offerings - granted, I'm happy that we've got more than we've ever had, but we're still lacking. Got a lot more to say, but will refrain. Suffice it to say, with OLB on OS X, I'm happy now. Accordance is nice, but to get all the goods you get with OLB, you gotta spend way too much money.

ANONYMOUS While On-Line Bible is the very best in its league, there is however only thing holding me back from strictly using OS-10 on my computer and that is the On-Line Bible program! I've used the On-Line Bible for quiet a while now and I've reached the point of of getting fed up having to startup OS-9 Classic just to run this Bible program. Let's face it, by the time the OS-10 version of On-Line Bible comes out, OS-11 will be here. It's time to move on and find and a suitable alternate to On-Line Bible. (Version 3.5.1)

DM Online Bible remains a first class product for Bible students. I haven't found anything better for the Mac, and I use it all the time in my ministry, but lets face it, its way overdue for OSX. Considering that OSX has been around for quite a long time now, the manufacturers excuses seem rather limp. Registered users ask for a New Year resolution, from Online Bible, OSX version now please or the developer will loose credibility, and that is not good for a Christian application as good as this one. DM This is a first class Bible application for anyone who needs and reads the Bible seriously, especially for those in ministry. However, to use it to the full, you will neeed the Online Bible Deluxe CD which includes many additional Bible translations including the New International Version (NIV) which is essential in the UK where most Churches use the NIV in worship as their main translation. It is stable in Classic under OSX and runs well (10.2.5) but an OSX version would be great. (Version 3.5.1)

UHAVENOCLUE a merry Christmas? yes, 12/25/2004 could be a merry Christmas... if it is without that fascistic (note: i just typed the word "fascistic" and not "fascist") G.W.Bush in office. "don't tread on me" (Connecticut colonial flag, circa the American British Colonial Revolution) "Patriot Act, anyone?" said King George III. (Version 3.5.1)
