XSMURF Why can I have the space character in the share folder's directory? that's completely ridiculous! I've been using this path for so long, I'm not gonna change the gazilion other apps that use this path for DC. This means that for this single reason I cannot use DC. And the other clients are even worst (Valknut's GUI is simply unusable). Please help! (Version 1.1)

HUCK If you're having trouble connecting to hubs, put in as your description (including the arrow brackets). This fools most hubs into thinking that you are actually displaying tags. The S:4 part of the tag, for example, is supposed to represent the number of free download slots for your computer, so it should change dynamically as people download files from you. It works for me, anyway. (Version 1.1)

EVAN Serious flaws in file naming and creation makes DC for X dangerous. First I must join the line of thankful mac-users, this is the first really usable client for the dc network. However, one should be aware of certain weaknesses that may harm your computer. Firstly, files with names with non-ascii (Latin-1) characters can be downloaded but the names are garbled, two latin-1 characters add upp to one unicode character in the filename, sometimes this creates unfortunate filenames that cannot be deleted in the Finder. More alarmingly, files created by DC doesn't always create correct data in the file structure, or the HFS+ tree. This means that the files are reported as erroneous when the machine is booted under OS 9. I made the mistake of deleting such a file while running OS 9 with the unfortunate result that many files were lost from my hard disk due to a partially destroyed file structure. After losing ALL data on my hard disk, I was unable to rescue any files using Norton and other recovery apps (Version 1.1)

MATT Direct Connect 1.1 is pure Crap! Most hubs require DC++....Which gets you either kicked or Banned when using DC1.1! It´s about time they release DC++ for OsX. As a iMac-user, I feel both cheated and left out from all the good stuff! (Version 1.1)

EJI Using v1.1 on Panther, I can't tell the ops from other users (no graphic icons) and the GUI is a bit mangled. I've come here straight after being shamed out of a hub because I was using a backwards DC client on Mac when everyone else was using up-to-date Windows versions like DC++. I thought there might be an upgrade so I could go back in, head held high. Wishful thinking. So much for uniting PC and Mac users via P2P. It's still very much an Us vs. Them scenario. MADMACS Would like to redraw my earlier comment. Used to work fine, but now 'the Mac' users are not allowed into many hubs anymore; 'illegal client', 'crapy old software', 'get a desent copy of DC'. The only hubs you can get logged into are a few Mac hubs with only a few users. it's like having a ticked for a concert, but your not allowed to get in because of your shirt. (Version 1.1)

ZINNEKEN this is a great potential P2P, however, it is no use on ADSL connections. ADSL uploading at full speed brings down all internet applications. You just can't do anything else any more while being on DC. Eventhough the developers haven't changed anything for 8 months now, I'm hopefull they'll get a mac version with upstream limitation. Features = worst because it can't be properly used on ADSL. Rest is great. (Version 1.1)

WARREN It worked great for about a month. I've always thought that the server orientated p2ps like KDX, Corracho and hotline were very overated and setting up an account with someone is a real pain. Limewire was good, but seems to not have anything new on it. DC refuses to run on my computer. Which is odd becuase it runs fine on all the others computers on the same LAN. I'm going to give it bad stability because of that :). Anyone ever had the problem of DC freezing at startup? (Version 1.1)

ANONYMOUS Better file selections and much better speeds than other p2p clients, but why does it heat up my computer so badly after a period of time that I have to shut down in the middle of downloads? The computer starts behaving funny with black streaks/lines across the screen. (Version 1.1)

JOE THE PHISH Fantastic, use it all the time, although it has a few problems. I first found it because our uni sharing network uses DC. And I have to say, I've found more files on it than I ever have on any other program. The are a few issues though... the user interface is little clumsy in places, and it seems practically impossible to get above around 300-500K/s DOWNLOAD even on a good local network, despite the fact that I've been uploading at over 1MB/s. It's definitely possible to get used to the interface after a while though. There are some great mac hubs out there - I've found everything I could possibly want, and my uni sharing network has every movie under the sun. But yeah, it would be nice if they took some advice from some good cocoa app designers. Has the potential to be a simply incredible program. (Version 1.1)

MCKS i love this. keeps out the losers that just want to leech. And if you just share ~25-30GB of stuff, there's really almost nothing that can't be found on the network. Interface is a little cluttered, but once you get used to it, it isn't so bad, imo. (Version 1.1)

ANONYMOUS Stay away from this! It is the opposite of easy-to-use. Instead of typing in a search and the results being displayed, you have to manually browse through all the users on the network until you find what you want. Many of the servers on this network require to you share at least 1 GB of files. Stick with Limewire or Aquisition. (Version 1.0)
