ANONYMOUS This game is nowhere near as bad as many of you claim it to be. Sure, there are issues with tree physics and birdie attempts sometimes yield only pars, but controls are simple and easy to use and it can be fun to spend a few minutes now and then playing this. It's no realistic golf engine, but it can be fun. (Version 1.2.6)

REVIEWER Also, when the game gives you a heartbeat of "Birdie attempt", and you make it! It states "Par". Lame, lame, lame. Get your skills right dude! I have been following this app for at least two years now. You would thing by now would get it right. (Version 1.2.6)

KARL BECKER Thank you for your input on the game. I would like to fix any bugs you are having with the game; I am familiar with the appropriate terminology for under/over par, and in my playing the game is reporting them correctly. Could you please email me specifically on which courses and holes these problems are occuring? Also, did the same person write this review and the one prior to it? Thanks - I hope we can fix whatever problems you're experiencing! (Version 1.2.6)

PARTTIMEGOLFER I have been following this game since its inception. I feel the author can't seem to tell the difference between a birdie, bogie or par. If that gets fixed, maybe it could be a pretty much useless gabe. But it still is a worthless attempt for anyone who truly loves the game of golf. Get the rules and the actual simulation correct. ANONYMOUS This has certainly come on impressively. Nice, simple gameplay which, although not overly-engrossing, is a fun way to play for ten or twenty minutes. The graphics aren't great, but fine for a game of this more arcade-style nature, as opposed to some of the ultra-realistic sims out there. It's pretty addictive, and the slick but not over-elaborate presentation is certainly a nice touch. Well done to the developer, and keep up the good work! (Version 1.2.5)

ANONYMOUS Why do people feel the need to air their opinions so abusively? If you don't like it, say why you think it's bad, but there's no need to insult the effort the developer has put into it. I, personally, didn't enjoy this; I found it difficult and awkward to play, and found success was more luck than judgement. There's a lot of work to be done, but for heaven's sake, at least encourage the developer to keep trying, rather than tell them not to bother. (Version 1.1.3)

DAN COSTELLO It's NOT a piece of crap. It is, at worst, a decent starting point for a better game by version 1.2. It's a silly simple little golf game, something that's been missing from Mac's platform for a long time. I remember playing FujiGolf on a Commodore 64, and it was so fast and simple and easy to play a round, I probably enjoyed that MORE than the ultra-realistic golf sims I've played on PS2, Mac, PC, etc. KGA golf is, however, sorely in need of more detailed explanation (or a rework) of the swing mechanism. What is the logic behind the swing interface? Why should I be able to hit a ball 600 yards the wrong way by clicking super-early on the swing meter? Is it for comic value alone, or is there actually supposed to be some strategy behind INTENTIONALLY screwing up the timing and direction so that the ball will go further? Also, the course editor still does not appear to be working, at least in the trial version... Does it only work with a registered version? That's not stated in the info files. I say DO keep up the good work. I can't imagine any Mac user in their right mind openly discouraging ANY grass-roots software development for OSX. Shame on you, nay-sayers! Keep trying, Karl Becker. The world will someday thank you for it. (Version 1.1.3)

ANONYMOUS What a piece of crap, this game is. On tees the aim is pointing straight, but the ball shanks way left or right. Very bad control from tee, after first shot, control a little better, graphics blow. A golf game from the Win 95 version is a whole lot better than this. Keep up the good work, not! Try creating something good and worth your frickin $15 dollar fee, You can go play a round of golf at a local course for about that amount. Developers, make a good game this game resemble the poorest of effort. (Version 1.1)

of course, if I don't have your email, I guess I can't send you any sort of free registration ;-) I was questioning the tongue-clicking sound effect... and I think I'm going to take it out. It was a placeholder sound in the first place, but then some of my testers thought it was kind of cute. I kept it in... but I think I'll take it out, especially since you recognized it was tongue-clicking. Thanks for your input (Version 1.1)

IRNBRU001 I had given up on posting reviews on MacUpdate for a while. Sorta had a falling out with the site, albeit over political/philosophical reasons, not functionality. By mistake I went to macupdate tonight and noticed KGA Golf had been updated. Seeing as I had an old version of the game I decided to download it and do a review. This is my first review of anything for a while now. Anyways I should get to the review... So this version is an improvement. Seems to be less bugs in this version, haven't been able to land on the water yet, but am trying hard! Distances seem better. Graphics are the same. The sound is actually worse. I'm not sure how long I can stand to listen to a man click his tongue. I really miss the reset hole feature! The tree problem is still there. Also the drop your ball function is neat but I can drop my ball in strange places, even very far away from where I hit it into the water. More features. It's better. It has a cost attached which it didn't seem to have before. The cost is complete with nagger too. I think though seeing as I was the first to review the first version of KGA Golf and also the first to review version 1.1 I think I should get a free full version of the game. Don't you think? Just email me when you want to give it to me for free. (Version 1.1)

GOLF GUY Nice idea, but it doesn't work. You can't see the hole from where the ball is, the clubs don't hit the ball the distances specified, there was a 335 yard par 3 hole!; all in all, it just isn't worth it. Sorry. (Version 1.0)

KARL BECKER Thanks for the input from everyone, and thanks for tracking down some of the particular bugs. So you know, KGA Golf was developed in approximately 3 months, and had to be released when it was to make the deadline for the uDevGame 2002 contest sponsored by iDevGames.com. I plan to release future updates to the game to make it more playable, stable, and fun. Please, keep the ratings coming! (Version 1.0)

STEVE Agree, yardages are way off. Also distance for each club is skewed. I can regularly hit the 5 iron longer than 3 and 4 irons. Needs some work. (Version 1.0)

IRNBRU001 Here is a tip to make your KGA Golf more fun. Before you tee off on every hole, use the options menu under your "golf bag" and chose "Reset hole" doing this will give you a much more accurate yardage reading of the hole. On hole 3 on the Herculean Nine you can use the left most part of the lake as a fairway. This is a bug but it give you a nice shot to the green to set you up for an eagle. If you use the "reset hole" trick the game becomes more playable. Herculean Nine: 30 (Version 1.0)

IRNBRU001 Well the yardage is way off. The trees are ridiculous. Way to easy to hit and if you get stuck behind one you might as well restart the hole. Some times your ball will act like it landed in water when it is landing on the fairway. Same goes with bunkers. This game should be really neat but it needs LOTS of work. Never should have been released at this stage. (Version 1.0)
