Google Notifier only checks for new messages every 15-30 minutes, whenever it seems to feel like it, without an option in preferences to set how often you'd like it to check. Gmail Notifr had that option, but made itself pretty much useless by not showing you who sent your emails or the subjects of them.
Notify has the best of all worlds - you can set it to check for new messages at lots of different intervals; you can see the sender, the subject, and even the first couple of lines of the email itself so you can decide if it's worth opening Gmail right then to check it; and I think the tabbed window interface is pretty darn clever. And I'm sure it's handy for lots of people that it can check up to four Gmail accounts, though that's not something I use myself.
Notify, for me, is perfect as-is and just what I've been looking for. If they keep adding to it, great!
The only place I've ever seen Notifr tell you is in the growl notification once the email arrives. If you're not at the computer or you don't see it, you can't click on the menu icon and bring that up in the menu - unless you all are using a different version of Notifr than I am. :) For me, that makes it useless. Just my own opinion.
Really, really terrific app. It does its job and does it well; the only possible way it could be improved is by adding sitx support. You'd have a perfect product! Thanks for this awesome tool.
I was looking for a bit torrent client that wasn't as bloated as the last one I was using, so I tried Transmission. It's perfect for the average user! It looks like it actually belongs on the Mac, unlike some other bit torrent apps, and it has all the features I need. The Inspector is great, it shows me all the information I want about a torrent in a non-confusing manner. Transmission is very easy to use, and you can't beat the price. I highly recommend it.
