Xblaze has had its stability issues in the past but it has been recently recompiled for the newer versions of Adium and runs just fine. While xBlaze lacks many of the features of xFire it can allow you to IM friends, see what they're playing, and record what you are playing. For the most part this is what you need.

A very nice app. Sometimes my dock locks up and this beats loading up TinkerTool or typing a command in the terminal. It would be nice if there was an option to autoquit after launching (perhaps if holding command would cancel the auto quit). This would make it quick and easy to relaunch the dock with quicksilver.

The plugin works with the now non-beta version 1.0. For the most part it works fine, but I have had problems with messages dropping out when talking to other people.
