Microsoft Office 2008
usingpond commented on 10 Oct 2006
This is like the second update now without a UB version, right?

Pretty ballsy.

Doesn't work. Hangs at "Launched traceroute." Running on a MacBook with 10.4.7.

Hmmm, an update with no universal binary. That makes sense.

Actually, it does make sense.

When Microsoft puts out the Universal Binary, it will be an upgrade, not an update. Office ain't some $25 piece of shareware, you know.

Word and Excel are much more powerful than most people need to use, but those of us who actually need the advanced features appreciate that power and acknowledge that a large, old code base can't be turned on a dime. If you think another app is better, you really should be using it instead. (8/8/2006, Version: 11.2.6)

Oh right. I suppose all those other apps that HAVE been universalized are just $25 pieces of shareware (like, for example, ALL APPLE APPS.) And remember how quickly Office was carbonized? Pretty airtight argument you've got there.

And another app is better (iWork). What exactly are these "advanced features" of Word, out of curiosity? The ability to look really really ugly?

KrossWordz
usingpond commented on 08 Aug 2006
Thank GOD! Finally, a crossword client that spells "crosswords" the wrong way. Sometimes I have difficulty using clients that spell it correctly; they just don't fit my needs as someone who likes to replace "s" with "z" and "c" with "k".

Kudoz!

EMUlaunch

A pretty rad-looking launcher. A friend with a PC said to me, "I wish I could do that," so extra points.

But one question: what's up with the PlayStation sorting? I mean, most people use disk images right? You can't open those with the emulator (PCSX or Flarestorm).

XPostFacto
Usingpond commented on 03 Apr 2005
this is a great app, i used it on my old mac a while ago.

but now, i just bought a new ibook, which can't boot into or install os 9.

is there an opposite of xpostfacto that can fix this? sort of like xpostfacto, but in bizarro world, where up is down, black is white, and apples are oranges
