Excellent piece of software, I use it to capture my system audio and send to my media player. That way I can play Spotify, Youtube, etc. on my stereo system.
Sorry if I came out to harsh in my review, that wasn't my intention. I looked around for a way to contact you, and I registered on your tracker to post the same findings there, just didn't get around to do that. The version I was using was 0.4.1. For anyone reading this, the author has contacted me directly on mail I'll help him out with any information I have there.
Just reading about it and looking at the screenshots I decided on buying this software. Being written in Cocoa and boasting 64 bit support with memory caching I was surprised about it being this slow. SABnzbd is written in python and uses about 20-30% CPU when downloading with 20 connections. NZBVortex is using 50-120% CPU downloading the same NZB! I also had it crash when adding the same NZB twice, and the GUI seems a bit unresponsive.
Here's some features it is lacking as well:
- Automatic downloading of nzb's in your download folder
- Automatic downloading of bookmarks from newzbin.com
- Queue manipulation through CLI or web interface
- Custom post processing scripts
Right now I feel a bit cheated as I'm forced to go back to SABnzbd. It has great potential if the author can work these things out though, Cocoa should be able to be more lightweight than a Python program. There should be a trial mode though, not being limited to 2 connections, so people can see the performance before they buy.
Almost there is an overstatement I think. They just bundled mencoder and it doesn't work properly. Sound is cracking and there's no support for subtitles.

Wish it had a nicer icon though :)

- Custom temp and finished downloads folders (don't like seeing the downloads appear until they are finished)
- Support for several Usenet servers
