The other comments don't understand what this application does. It is in fact a production application to create high end animation for TV and film. In regards to creating animations, it is probably more correct to say that you can do some of the stuff in Flash that you can do in Animate but not as quickly or easily. There are some things you can do in Animate that you just can't do in Flash. Flash excels at creating interactive media (including animation) for the web, while Animate sticks to animation in a pure sense (although you can save material in Flash format). There is some crossover but the emphasis of each application is different. With that said, the tools available in Animate are extensive and liberating if you are into creating pure animation. It is a very well thought out application but with quite a steep learning curve. I upgraded from Toon Boom Studio and am very happy with my purchase. I also use Flash in my work and it is a great tool as well. Check out the demo and see if it does what you want. One caveat is that it is a newer application and I have experienced some bugs and occasional crashing (so save often).
