Some users seems to report that the app was crashing... well, they were lucky!
On my system, it ran just fine... except it totally screwed up my installation! I should have stick to monolingual :(
Anyway, I asked him to remove the unused languages (all except russian, french, and of course english (we can't remove it anyway)), and clean the architectures. There were nothing to setup the last point, but anyway, it's either PPC you remove or Intel, right?!
Well, except this fool removed the wrong part of the code! I run it on a macbook air and it removed the Intel Code, leaving only the PPC code...
So, a chance Apple created Rosetta to make PPC code readable by Intel machines, but it's slow and take huge quantity of RAM...
Moreover, XsTrimmer also broke the hard drive structure...
To summerize: AVOID THIS SOFTWARE!
Go with Monolingual. It's pretty straight forward and works well. And YOU choose what code to remove (it remind you what plateform you are running - and doesn't make mistake: "Intel 64").
I love this little utility :)
It's free, efficient, and have some nice features...
And work great on leopard! ;)
I only have one regret: the batch frame is a wonderful idea, but there is only "weird" frames, no simple ones! And my experience show me that simpler is better when it comes to frames...
any way we can add our own frames?
thanks
Wonderful software!
It does the job nicely, it look sweet ^_^, it does a backup of your application, just in case it would screw anything, etc.
The only bad thing is that the process is a little slow, but considering the job done, I don't think it's an optimisation issue... just big job ^_^... the first time ;) A chance we don't have do to it all the time...
I was very tight in my 150Go, so this gave me a lot of help... more than 1Go, considering I already removed most languages with monolingual before ;)
I've read that the new version of monolingual can remove the PPC/Intel code from an app too, but didn't try, Monolingual is more cold and not as coutious as this software ;)
