This application is very simple. Not necessarily a bad thing but it seems to lack some functionality that would actually make it useful.
You cannot add your own foods to it and the included database isn't all encompassing. The database is also a little clunky with descriptions.
I know it is called "Calories" but it also tracks a lot of things: Fat/Protein/Nutrients/Etc. However Calories is the only thing you can set goals for and map. It seems to me that since it is already tracking the information it would be extremely useful to be able to pull reports on those things as well.
The interface is also a little strange. Tagging items took me a minute to figure out since you must drag selections to the filter bar to tag them. There is no inspection or information palette for items. Not even a right click menu.
It does what it says it is supposed to do. Track calories. And I guess if you just want to track calories from a list of predefined food then this is a good program for it. In my opinion though it is far too simple for it's own good. A slightly more robust feature set would take it from being just "ok" to being great.
Wow, yet another application that is all flare and no substance. Worse yet it crashes constantly.
In the 20 minutes that I used it I encountered:
- One debilitating rendering issue (app went to pixelated squares until I esc. closed the page).
- Screwed up graphics on the flap.
- EXTREME sluggishness in all aspects of using the application. Click article, wait... wait... finally it opens. Add feed? Wait.. Open Shelf? Wait...
- Shelf. Neat idea terrible implementation. If you try and drag a story to it you get a little arrow but no actual visual feedback to where you are putting the page. In an app with so much gratuitous animation I find that odd. It also leads to losing articles form the shelf because it is hard to see where you are placing them. Random pages hanging of the side. Stacks? Cool, but it extreme lag while opening them also no visual indication of reordering them, just an arrow...
- Import from NetNewsWire? Yes please. Nothing.
- Import from OPML? Crash.
- Open article? Crash.
- Oh, did I mention that it is EXTREMELY slow?
Not much more to say than that. Lump this together with flashy but worthless apps like Disco.
Thumbs-up on thinking outside of the box I guess...
$30 dollars for an app as unstable and feature crippled as this is a rip off.

Sounds like you are planning to address everything that I brought up and more :)
I will be certain to check out the next release.
It really is off to a great start and I can see a lot of potential.

Regardless it is the default. The default should not be that broken.
Thanks for the tip though :)
