Adium has no IRC support that I have found. This does. It's also a standard interface across multiple platforms.

Regarding people that claim that PPCs are dead (or dying), you obviously don't have a PPC. Don't make quick statements when they obviously don't involve you. I personally have two PPC based Macs and two Intel based Macs. I have no intentions of "trashing" my PPC Macs.

I was curious though if Instantbird will be supporting OTR Encryption at any point. If not, I won't be using it.
