I always used Ripit - which overall I can't complain of - to backup my son's dvd collection but lately it failed (corrupted file) with some Winnie the Pooh dvd. I downloaded Mac DVDRipper Pro and it flawlessy worked. Bought right away trhough the MU promo.
I am not a techno geek and I tried to backup my son's DVD collection (legally owned) for so long…all application I tried (freeware and not, Mac and windows) were quite cumbersome, at least to me. RipIt is so easy that is not even funny…after three days of trial I bought it and it's probably the best app I own. In order to recompress and burn I use it along with DVDremaster Pro or Toast 7

I checked the web looking for compress solutions but all suggestions didn't work fine for me (not enough reduction or bad output quality).
I tried PDFshrink and it worked exactly how I needed. A little bit pricey (here's way 4 stars and not 5) but it does exactly what it should do
