I've been using DAQplot for a 24/7 telemetry application since 2009. The math transforms on the data allow me to present time-domain waveforms with different filtering, and I use its jpeg updater with an Automator script to post plot updates to a website.
Two features would improve DAQplot for me:
- The spectral plot should have a semilog option for the frequency axis - this is an unusual omission for a plotting package.
- In the derived data definitions, it would be nice to have a more straightforward way of adding low and high-pass filtering, by specifying filter corner frequencies and rolloff in dB/decade.
I'm very happy with DAQplot - it's an indispensable tool.
I've been using RUMlog for more than 2 years now - definitely a nice adjunct to the radio for the DXer. I use the cluster interface and also find the grayline chart handy - esp now that we're seeing increasing numbers out of sunspot cycle-24.
I like the good integration with qrz.com and google-earth - very quick access to useful information. And I appreciate that Tom has kept the software current for quite a while now. It's a treat to run this on the Mac.
I find that the V2.8 betas from Skype are stable for me, with robust A/V connections, and they have the best overall feature set for voip available for the Mac. The cross-platform screen sharing in the Mac beta is *not* available in the newest Skype Win client.
I'm grateful to w7ay for making NEC available with a helpful GUI and other enhancements. It's an important program to have for RF engineers and hobbyists. Nice to see a good port available to Mac users.
