I've tested this app and read the developers site and they're very vague about what their software actually does. There are many references in the app and on the site to "optimizing" the system, but it appears that "optimize" is being used in a general sense and not to mean "rearranging and defragmenting data to improve disk performance". At one point in testing the app, iTuneUp wanted to throttle the kextd daemon, which did not seem like a good idea. When I tried to run a full system report, it crashed. Until there is more transparency about what this app is actually doing, I'll pass.

Is this software sanctioned by MacUpdate? I'm wondering because the icon is similar to the MU site logo but not exactly the same.

Outstanding
Combines the features of multiple competing products (some suggested here under the "similar software" heading) for a great price. It's still early in its development, so I have no doubt it will improve. I'm not sure why there isn't more buzz about this software. There should be.

Great product. I've tried multiple screen-dimming apps and DA is the best I've used. This new beta seems to address some of the "ease-of-use" issues I've had with it (specifically dealing with its preferences) and a few kinks still need to be worked out, but it's definitely worth the price for those who need it.

FYI to Developers: The "About" screen still lists the app as version 3.2.2 after upgrading.

Version 4.1 is hanging on launch after updating from 4.0. Used Time Machine to revert to 4.0 and all is well again.

v3 Suggestion
For a new feature suggestion for version 3, how about being able to directly select a song from a playlist from the Controller window or from the Menu controls. I don't see a way to do that now, but would like to.
