Version 4.0 is out now, and is Mac App Store only. I wanted to know if they could migrate my license to the MAS version… But CFM's new website has a form that doesn't work. How am I supposed to upgrade? By the way, it is a compatibility concern, 4.0 hasn't real new features compared to 3.5.
Finally got my key 3 days after the order. The annoying licensing process put aside, this version of // is great and running my XP, Seven and Ubuntu VMs like a charm!
People at // should understand that they really need to change their mind about their licensing process. Like many people here, I jumped on the MUpromo deal and received a Parallels Desktop 5 license key, which grants me eligibility to version 6 at no additional cost. What a pain to retrieve the upgraded key! While many companies make this process really easy, Parallels' way of doing it is just ridiculous. What's the point of doing all this rumble about the release of version 6 (ads, teasing…), if they're NOT going to give their clients a DECENT service? Why do people that already bought many releases of their product have to wait for several days to get their license, when new customers can get it almost instantly?
If only it was the first time… But I've already experienced problems with previous updates of Parallels. Excellent product, but the whole licensing thing needs a major overhaul.
I've been using Connect 360 for a long while. Then I tried Playback a few days ago, and immediately bought it. This software is just wonderful. Connect 360 trashed.
The best solution is to stick with the English version. I've made my choice a long time ago, and I've found that the English version is as easy to use than a localized one (in French, in my situation). Of course, Parallels' language support could be better (at least different versions could be synchronized, or they could wait a bit before releasing the updates - even if the English version is already finished)… But with the English version you're always up-to-date. If you can afford the application and Parallels Tools (within Windows) not being in your natural speaking language…
I just love this application. I've dreamed of something like this for a long time. This is just perfect for any kind of screenshot: forgot to clean your desktop before capturing? Just open the file in Photoshop and hide useless stuff, or even rearrange your items for a better look. The only problem I had was with the licensing file not being recognized after a restart, but version 1.0.3 solved the problem. Layers is a must-have for anyone concerned about screenshots.
Today, I gave FastCut another chance. My opinion hasn't changed: it remains this crappy, unintuitive application with poor drag and drop support and unappealing UI. Who buys this thing?!
