I can't believe there are no reviews of this yet. So far this has been the best implementation of 'AirPlay' on OS X I have tried (compared to AirPlayer at least-- albeit that one is free).
While the first couple of versions were a bit buggy, the program has since become much more stable and works like a charm. Also, the developer has been very active with pushing out feature-rich updates.
I love using this on my mac mini media server, which is always running plex. Airserver and Plex play nice together, which was really important for me.
I think the dev should definitely put out a demo version so that people can see how great this app is.
Great application. I use it all the time as a droplet for uploading files to my ftp server, it is also great at making quick uploads to imageshack. Definitely give it a shot.
This is bar-none the best in it's class on the mac platform (and IMHO just as robust as EAC on the PC) . The developer is constantly updating and adding new great features. He is also fantastic at corresponding to emails about bugs and feature requests.
XLD does a fantastic job at utilizing all the cores on my Octo Mac Pro, which translates into incredibly fast simultaneous conversions of huge files. The program is also very stable and I rarely have any hangs.
I could go on and on about all the fabulous features, but I suggest you give it a shot yourself - you won't be disappointed!
PS - We are so lucky to have this program be free, I think heavy users should definitely consider a donation at some point. :)
I bought a license, initially drawn in by the beautiful interface...Sadly, however, I still use the ugly but functional Speed Download. Ultimately Speed Download downloads files much faster when compared with transmit side-by-side.
Suggestions:
1. See the live upload/download speed on the icon in the dock
2. Simultaneous connections to ftp server- I think this is the main reason why speed download performs faster.
3. Ability to drag a folder with multiple contents (i.e. rar files) to download , and have the files within the folder download concurrently (*Speed Download does this, and it is really helpful--you can set the amount of concurrent downloads in the settings)
Until transmit catches up in terms of download speed, I'm sticking with the competition. Still, I'd switch in a heartbeat if the gripes were rectified...
*Perhaps there are some settings I'm missing, so correct me if any of the suggestions above are hidden somewhere*
First, thanks for the refresh! I find SelfControl to be absolutely indispensable for those (like myself) who impulsively check blogs while trying to get work done. I especially like using it while in my class lectures.
suggestions (for possible paid version?):
1. Integrate with your web browser to scan for most frequented websites in your history...
2. Have a bunch of different list presets like - "tech" "sports" etc... that suggest sites in those categories that you might want to block.
3. It would be neat if it somehow integrated with the mac operating system, to not allow you to open certain programs that usually are distracting for you... ichat, itunes, aperture ... Or at least hide them in the dock...
4. An option to block the internet connection as a whole (like the application freedom)
5. Just don't let me do anything on my computer that is unproductive.
Perfect timing for an update! Law school starts back up again in 2 weeks. This program has been indispensable for my note taking. I just wish that it somehow filtered out the annoying clicking of my keyboard typing... I don't know how that would be possible, but it would be awesome! Also, some sort of integration with the MacSpeech transcription software would be pretty sweet.
Does anybody else feel that CopyPaste is slow to catch a "⌘C" when doing a quick keystroke? I find that it misses copies that are usually caught if the program is not running -- this has led me not to use the program anymore. Perhaps there is some setting within the preferences that I am not aware of, that will help change the speed/sensitivity of the keystroke capture?
