The Developer might want to proof read what is written about the app. If this was produced on the app then it's no recommendation for the spellchecking features for a start.
And of course, we really, really need yet another text editor that is greed to solving problems that don't actually exist.
Are they serious? $4.99 for something that iPhoto, Preview do for free. $4.99 for something that any photo editor on the planet can do already. What's a better crop? Either the darn thin is cropped or it's not.
$17.99 is a lot to pay for an app that gives no trial and very little information. For instance, what format does it save to? RTF? txt? Something else? Can it work with other apps that help a writer organise their text, like Scrivener, Storyist, Ulysses et al? There is no answer to these questions either here or on their website.
I'd hate to drop $18 on an app that I can't fit into my workflow.
I bought this back at v2 or thereabouts. It does what it says on the tin and you can get good results quite quickly. However their upgrade policy stinks - even to the stage where point updates get charged for, and it really hasn't got that many new features. If I kept upgrading by now I would have bought Final Cut Express - which is a whole to more capable. So, I did.
BTW am I the only one who thinks it odd that they release a v5.0.0 but it has, as known issues, "Rendering and performance issues with effects and transitions"? Do I understand this correctly? We have a new version, we're charging for it but it doesn't actually work very well?
Just remember, removing all those "unnecessary" pixels will mean that you'll be printing at much smaller sizes to achieve the same quality - and in the process, you'll be disabling iPhoto's non-destructive editing feture
Anyone know the difference between the (use to be paid and then became Free) v1 and the (Paid) v2? Nothing here. Nothing at the App Store and noting on the Web site? Why such a secret? What did it get to justify the price and the v2 listing? Judging by the comments on the App Store nothing has changed:
"NewsFire cannot synchronize with a Google Reader account. NewsFire cannot import a Google Reader export file without manually changing extension from .xml to .opml. NewsFire cannot view web links within the reader. NewsFire is more polished than Google Reader's web interface, but otherwise is inferior. NewsFire's web site and Mac App Store page lack sufficient information to make an informed purchase. I just wasted $5 on a whim."
I downloaded this and ran it through it's paces on a couple of images. It hung on a couple but succeeded when repeating the task on the same files, go figure. The actual effects themselves were unconvincing to me, but others might like them, or perhaps with more effort you might do better.
Interface wise it's a disgrace really. Very obvious lazy port over from Windows - and it would be bug ugly there too. They use a non-standard Open... dialogue. Why? Is there an advantage - apart from demonstrating laziness? There is certainly a disadvantage: In the standard Mac Open... dialogue. There we can search and access our photos in iPhoto or Aperture without having to export them first. Let's face it, your Open dialogue is no improvement on the standard one, so what, apart from just being a lazy port from Windows, is the point?
Yes this looks interesting, but what on earth is it? The Website looks well but has zero information. How does it relate or compare to other apps in the field like Skype, iChat, and so on. I am interested but do I really have to download and install it just to find out this kind of basic information
I've tried each evolving version and there's much to like. It has a very attractive UI and is a pleasant place to spend time. It has the odd crash, not unusual in early draft software, but is generally stable and feature rich - groups, smart groups etc. However, I have not switched from NetNewsWire as it's missing what is, for me, a killer feature - tabs. In NNW I can scan down the list of articles and set them to open in tabs in NNW - not a browser. On a small point, NNW has more options for setting fonts etc as you might expect from a more mature app.
That said, it's UI is very pleasant, and I'll be keeping an eye on it. Any chance of adding tabs in the future?

Why won't the developer tell us what has changed?
