"An obvious cash grab"? Give me a break! I paid for this shareware gem so long ago I can't remember, and every single update, major and minor, since then has been absolutely FREE. GraphicConverter is a workhorse for many people. A $20 upgrade fee after many years of free and significant improvements hardly counts as "an obvious cash grab." Look to companies like DataViz or whoever it is that currently markets Endnote if you want to see prime examples of that. Lemke is one of the good guys in this business.
And you've polled every other user? Thanks for the advice, but of course I've restarted the machine. And I've tried to determine if there are any interactions with other applications.
Yes, this is my experience. And I'm sharing it with others. If it's not a problem on your machine, that's just wonderful for you. But this *is* beta software, and I think reporting issues here that others may experience is worthwhile. Notice I didn't give it a bad review because of this.
And yes, I've reported it to Google tech support too.
Uggg... this update has really messed up the activition trigger for me. Even though it's set to the default (Apple+Apple), all sorts of double-presses will now activate Google (Esc+Esc, etc.). Google, please fix this!
Replying to the comment below: Nisus Writer Pro is a quantum leap up from Express. I think you need to wait and see what the upgrade price will be for current Express users before complaining about being stabbed in the back (wow!). And as for purchasing Mellel: yes, purchase both. I did. They're both excellent applications.
This is a GREAT program. Simple, with a focused function that does just what it was designed to do with great elegance. I keep not only scanned in receipts but also PDF receipts (emailed, or webpage receipts). Also, my bank lets me download PDF monthly statements. I use ReceiptWallet to keep these too. Printing them all up as a report is very useful (especially come tax time).
