After years of pain with flashplayer on Mac it isn’t easy to stay polite and I can’t believe that the Adobe people can’t do it better. I think they don’t want it better. Flash 10.2.152 uses 43 % CPU on my iMac 2,8 Core2Duo / Safari to play video on zattoo.com (european IP-TV), fullscreen video stutters. 10.1 plays smooth at 26 % CPU. The same video on Chrome (latest beta) with internal plugin uses nearly 90% CPU, but fullscreen is smooth, really.
BTW another free software like „Movist“ (mPlayer) uses 13% CPU for playing a same sized video.
I made a script for my PowerBook G4 to change between Flash 9 and 10.1 because video plays nearly smooth with 9 but can’t use streetview for example. And why offers Adobe only Flash 9 for PPC, now that they dropped support. 10.1 runs, even if not well. I really can’t believe how bad the support of the Mac users by Adobe is and if a developer doesn’t WANT to make a good product it’s the best way to ban it.
I think you have to buy the device to get the firmware version but as I said watching/recording tv and listening to radio is possible with older ones; converting videos too. Mine is: "Formac Studio DV/TV (1.0.5)Tuner: Philips FM1216 B/G FM-Radio". You need the new firmware for some special functions and update is only possible by the Formac people (if they do it anymore).
Anyone else having heavy traffic, blocking with Google Reader and Smart Scroll extension activated? Maybe only in interaction with 1Password extension.
