Jumper
Rc62 commented on 21 Nov 2011
I purchased a license from the app store back in August. I haven't used it much since purchasing it but just noticed Jumper now fails to launch (under Lion). I went to see if there is an update. Well the app store no longer has the application available and does not list it under my purchased apps even though I have a receipt. The developer has changed names (from App4Mac to ADNX). Their new web site does not even list Jumper as one of their apps. WTF? OK I only paid $1.99 for it but still, this is pretty bad...

Update: Jumper is back on the app store and is free until Dec 31st.

Funny, after installing this new version (which is working under Lion btw) my original purchase from August now shows up again under my app store purchases. I have some concerns over how and why an app I purchased disappeared in the first place though. Does not give me very much confidence in the app store.

Now that this is App Store only, how does one update their existing version 2? Going into the program setup and clicking update does not find the new version and the update is not available on the developers web page (not that I can find).

I'm not an App Store hater but this is one thing that annoys me about it... i. e. when I have an existing license and can not get updates (or have to jump through hoops to do so). It would be nice if the App Store recognized existing licensed software on my Mac and would allow updates (or upgrades). Guess I am asking too much...

Stereogram Workshop
Rc62 commented on 30 Aug 2011
I've always liked viewing stereograms. I downloaded the Stereogram Workshop demo and within a few minutes had a neat hidden image created. I went ahead and bought a license and now have my first stereogram printed and stuck on the fridge.

I am commenting instead of rating the program as I haven't really worked in it enough yet to provide an accurate assessment. However, in my limited testing it seems to be a cool program and for $9.95 I think it is a good deal and a lot of fun.

Adobe Photoshop Elements
Rc62 commented on 21 Sep 2010
I just spent 20 minutes searching their site for "upgrade" pricing. The links to "upgrades" is circular eventually taking you back to the page you started from and never showing an upgrade price or even how to purchase an upgrade. Oh well, I don't really need it anyway...

Funtastic Photos
rc62 commented on 16 Jul 2009
Sent the info below to the developer as it looks like a small bug in the updater...

Just downloaded and installed the latest update to Funtastic Photos (1.06). After installing the update and relaunching I am again prompted that there is a new update. The updater does not seem to recognize it is already at the latest version.

I find this little widget to be the most useful and helpful one I have. I order "stuff" online all the time and like to be able to get frequent status updates without having to go to the UPS or Fed X (etc) tracking sites. The integration with growl notifications is sweet. This app works! It is a great utility that is well supported by the developer.
