I rue the days before finding Perian. This simple and FREE piece of software is a real timesaver. I've had what seems like scores of this player that player on trying to get a variety of files to play for more years than I'm willing to admit. As noted in other places, this adds to QT what it should have come out of the box with. Sometimes I'll want to tweak through a piece of footage, bt often I simply want to watch it. Perian makes that happen with excellent consistency. Not a panacea, but what is?
So I bought v.2.2 in December of 2003, updated to v.3, update to v.4, etc. etc. Except for the fact that the AI didn't advance and soon you realized you could skin them all, I love this software. However, v.4.3.1 is a bit long i the tooth. I'd happily upgrade to say, v.5, if it didn't CRASH on Lion. I had only the slightest bumps in the road through 10.6.8, but now it's unuseable. I fear that OSX 10.7.x upgrades (now running 10.7.2) won't help. Mr. Todd Ouzts, are you out there? Or is this a deadend application now?
