For anyone tempted by the current Steam sale of Limbo (50% off until Jan. 3rd) the Mac port of Limbo is supported under SteamPlay, and will be coming to Steam in early January 2012. (January 12th, if what I've read is correct.)
I've just rediscovered this game after purchasing it many moons ago over at the Mac Game Store. This UNITY-based first/third person shooter is a simplistic game, but it's old-school arcade-style mechanic makes the game unexpectedly rather addictive, as you try over and over to beat your best score. The controls are crisp, and the graphical style is quite nice. Overall it's a great and satisfying little indie shooter that's good for blowing off some steam during work breaks.
Just as a heads up, this needs either the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files (from the MS-DOS CD-ROM release), or the open source replacement data files (OpenGFX, OpenSFX, and OpenMSX), available from the OpenTTD website.
So...how does registration work? Does this come with a ridiculous activation limit the way SRS iWow did? Has JoeSoft charged for incremental releases (again, like with SRS iWow)? The MUPromo bundle has gotten me really interested in Hear but after having been burned with SRS iWow, I'm a little apprehensive.
Ecoute is still a great app, and quickly became my media player of choice; but I'm just not feeling the UI. It's not very intuitive compared to 2.x and handy features like lyrics are in a different window, as Mjasinski mentioned. And what happened to the ability to quickly search YouTube for videos of the current track? I loved that feature.
A fantastic piece of software from a developer who continually takes the time and effort to support their customers. Thanks again for the hard work you've put into this product.
Quite simply *the* way to run DOS-based classic games on the Mac; joystick/gamepad emulation, introduced in 1.1, was a fantastic addition, and with improved importing abilities for GOG's extensive DOS-based library, it's even better. Now you don't have an excuse to play and enjoy some of the best GOG classics like Wing Commander III, Crusader: No Remorse, and Screamer!
I wondered why Mozilla still lists 6.0.2; then I read that FF7 is supposed to land on Sept. 27th. I guess someone at MU jumped the gun. At this rate, I don't know what we'll see more of by year's end: "tweaked" George Lucas re-re-releases of Star Wars or Firefox releases...
You'll still pry Camino from my cold dead hands, but FF has come a long way thanks to the massive Mac UI overhaul that they put back in FF5. It still doesn't "feel" like a native Mac app because Mozilla uses XUL for its UI elements; the tradeoff is that it allows for extensions and themeing.
In any case, while the jump to 7 is dizzying I'm glad that Mozilla has for now dumped their original asinine decision to not use version numbers for Firefox.
Is this for Leopard only? I followed the standard procedure to install preference panes for Camino, but it won't load up. I'm using 2.0b3 with 10.4.11.
Sadly, this version simply doesn't work on 10.4.11 (on a C2D MacBook 2 GB RAM/2 Ghz).
The main window can't be shown, all of the menus don't work, and bottom half WhatSize's application menu is completely blank (as in no text, just an empty menu).
For some reason which I can't understand, this plugin won't appear in Growl's list of display styles, even after a removal and reinstallation of the preference pane.
I'm guessing a .plist or something somewhere is corrupted or isn't working right, but I don't know what it could be.
I am able to get it running, but the way the notification window is rendered is all wonky...it's rendered in large text with large icons on a totally transparent background.
I'm wondering if this might be a WebKit issue - this is on a 700 Mhz G3 iBook w/10.4.10 (incidentally, this works fine on an MBP).

(Disclaimer: I do run APE, and 1.1 did crash until I set APE to exclude Scribblet, whereupon it worked fine afterwards.)
