Ok so it does what it says it will do. Sound is pretty loud and would definitely catch peoples attention. Fatal flaw though is that you can just turn the laptop off within 5 seconds by holding down the power button and the sound will stop. Also turning off the laptop doesnt set off the sound so defeats the whole program.

It takes snapshot but you cant do much with them as they're on your laptop which probably got stolen.

I'm going to stick with prey http://preyproject.com/ which is free and has more features.

One last point is that you shouldn't be stupid enough to leave you laptop unattended without it being locked up in any place where someone might steal it. That is just dumb.

Prey vs Find my Mac vs Plug Spy

Price: Free, Free, $2.99
Requires Internet Connection: Yes, Yes, Only for notifications
Geolocation: Yes, Yes, No
Webcam Image Capture: Yes, No, Yes
Report IP: Yes, No, No
Screenshots: Yes, No, No

The main thing is that with prey and iCloud all this info is available remotely. I have had a laptop stolen working abroad and got it back. I got a picture of the guy and his IP address, turns out it was a dodgy IT shop selling stolen wares. Yeah it was very lucky but its better than nothing.

I just don't understand why anyone would leave their $1500 laptop unattended to go the toilet. It will be gone when you come back, whether it makes a noise when you unplug the power or not.
