Support is amazing. DVDRemaster had a problem detecting the correct aspect ratio of some of my DVDs. I emailed the metakine guys and got immediate reply. They did everything to track down the problem and sent me a patched version.
Now I'm a happy camper. I use DVDRemaster to shrink movies and TV shows to watch them on the iPhone.
Speed-wise DVDRemaster outperforms Handbrake which I used before (DVDRemaster is roughly twice as fast). DVDRemaster has a much more logical UI than Handbrake. In Handbrake, you have to select every single track of a DVD using a drop down box and set parameters for each of them. Annoying especially for TV shows where every episode is a track. In DVDRemaster, you have everything on one screen and just check or uncheck checkboxes. DVDRemaster also sports a small preview pane of the currently selected track, the lack of which I find most annoying in Handbrake, since I never know which track contains what.
Apart from converting DVD content to a multitude of formats for Mac, iPod/iPhone and whatnot, it can create shrinked images of your DVDs (with all the menus included, but smaller in size) and extract selected features like video or audio only.
DVDRemaster is accompanied by an app named FairMount (also made by Metakine) which lets you access copy protected DVDs.
Considering speed, feature richness, user friendlyness and the excellent support, I can only recommend this app.
Notebook has been updated since I bought the MU promo bundle last week (the MU link contained release 351, the current release number is 355), but Notebook's update utility said there was no newer version.
I manually downloaded and installed the latest version from the Circus Ponies web site, and it works with the MU license key.
The latest version fixes a couple of bugs and introduces German and French localisation: http://www.circusponies.com/store/index.php?main_page=recentchanges
[Version 3.0v355]
