Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition

pixturesk reviewed on 11 Mar 2012
Been using Sophos for Mac Free since it came out on an iMac G4/800 PPC, 768 ram, dsl running Tiger 10.4.11(Sophos has not forgotten Tiger PPC users). Even on this low spec computer, Sophos runs perfectly, just slowing my computer somewhat while updating the definitions, worth it for the protection, also updates the software itself every few months (just this week). Thanks Sophos for this great freebie.

Fast Browser, can use my Safari Bookmarks, but I can't get images to load automatically, have to click the "Load Images" icon for all the images to load on a webpage, then have to click again if I change webpage. How can I fix this in Preferences? Thanks.

Thanks Fyreflye, I was able to figure this out myself, in Preferences/ Ad Blocking, had to uncheck an image block function. Ken.

TenFourFox

Please forgive me, I wrote before seeing the "about:config" fix for re-enabling the TFF version 8 plugin functionality, works perfectly. Now when I click on Tools/Extensions, all the extensions + plugins are there. I will still keep both versions 5 + 8, until I fully check out this fix, then uninstall version 5. Thanks for this great fix.

TenFourFox

As far as continuing to use plug-ins (as a non-techie, can't be without them!!)in TFF, I am using 2 versions of TFF, both 5 + whatever new version comes out. Version 5 allows plug-ins, but I also want to use version 8, so I use both. After unpacking version 8, I change the label of the icon from TenFourFox 7450 to TenFourFox 7450 (8). I then put this icon in my Apps folder so I now have both versions 5 + 8 in my Apps folder, puts aliases of both versions on my desktop, then choose either, contingent on what I am attempting online, works great on my iMac G4/800, 768 megs, DSL. Of course, I keep updating Firefox (now 3.6.23), from which TFF gets my configuration, profile.

I am not much of a techie, a fairly new Mac user but I have been using TenFourFox since it came out on an iMac G4/800, DSL, running Tiger 10.4.11. In my opinion much faster, more secure than Firefox 3, works perfectly on my machine. I kept my complete FF3 install intact because that's where TenFourFox configures itself from. Also, I update FF3 so that TenFourFox can re-configure from the newest FF3 version. I love Tiger + the PPC architecture so a perfect union of OS + browser.
