The TimeLog 4 betas are a promising upgrade to the excellent TimeLog 3.
This is a tool that focuses on doing useful work for you with little bloat.
What it does well:
- Automatic timer logs your work in iCal by client, project and category.
- Automatically applies billing rates that can vary by category or by client.
- Supports surcharge rates for special work.
- Create and complete ToDos from any application, smoothing your workflow.
- Reports quickly time and billing amount by client and project
TimeLog 4 required a major rework to adapt to the changes and Leopard and this shows in the differences in the application.
- New look, more colourful dialogs
- New Timeline view with handy editing features
- Enhanced export formats (xml and csv)
- Network integration through CalDAV and HTTP POST of XML data.
- Smart lists allow customizing the view for your needs.
- Print reporting moved into the print dialog.
The developer is very responsive and focused on constructively responding to client feedback.
I'm looking forward to the final release.
