A very good program, use it all the time. But annoyingly, the windows such as that for the terminal still will not stay in focus when switching in and out of the app.
Newest release still does not fix an annoying bug where the auxiliary windows will not stay in focus when switching in and out of the app. Makes things like the provided terminal windows nearly useless.
Developer has been asked 3 times about this and hasn't fixed it in 4 releases for Lion.
I am a long time user and just paid for the upgrade, as it is an excellent editor. I have to agree with other here though, this is getting to be quite expensive, and 9 wasn't really that great an upgrade either. If it happens again in a year with 11, I am likely to switch.
I hope the developer will use some of this incoming funding to develop Yojimbo for the iPhone, which the users have been begging for some years now!
Had a look at this for use with local repositories.
It has what appears to be a slick interface, and nice features, like scanning for local repositories. However, it is very buggy in this and will not work well with a local repository.
Don't know about use with Github site, but is not a replacement for Tower when working with local repositories.
The developer did the same thing previously, disappeared, with no updates or news for 1 or 2 years. Also wasn't paying their taxes. Best avoided -- lots of alternatives, like Switcher Maestro, which is cheaper and supported by a great developer.
I recently tried many of the reference managers for the Mac, including Sente, Papers.
I ended up staying with Bookends, principally because it has the best combination of features with keywords, groups, attached documents, etc.
The program has many features that aren't clearly documented in the user manual, though they are often obvious enough to try, like dragging a keyword from the keyword list onto a group of selected references to add them to those references.
Recent improvements in finding and downloading articles from the pubmed web search make that aspect a snap.
And as I've noted before, the support by the developer is great.
This is NOT shareware. It is a demo, runs for limited time and has limited functionality. Shareware is where the user decides if and how much to pay for the product. It would be nice if MacUpdate actually insisted on people using the proper categorization.
