Terrible, terrible, terrible. This thing has done nothing, but crash, crash, crash. It seems to be overly fussy, working only on a freshly installed system with no 3rd party software installed. Once anything else is installed, this application fails every time.
What I'd like to see it located is some of those embedded applications like svn. I keep getting a couple of errors from things on my system that use a PowerPC version of svn. I already found all of the applications and removed the ones I do not want anymore. There a some that have updates coming, so I left those there. Embedded PowerPC applications is what I'm looking to remove.
This latest major release (3.0) is by far the cleanest looking interface of all, as I have used version 1.x and 2.x. Little used settings were removed and great new ones added. I particularly like having the ability to show the attachments at the top of the message. One simple right click on an icon and you have your attachment in all its glory. This is if you want to see an attachment. Many times you do not and that is where Attachment Tamer shines. Best of all, it is free to version 1.x and 2.x registered users.
VirusBarrier caused problems with Hands Off!, but version 1.2.1 comes to the rescue. Install it. You may see that it can't install because of the earlier conflict from VirusBarrier. Go to the Hands Off! menu and run the uninstaller. Delete the Hands Off! configuration application after this is done, then copy version 1.2.1 to your applications folder and launch. You'll be very happy that you did, just like I am.
I've used Retrospect since OS 9 and this is by far the best version. It works so much faster than version 6. Restores could not be easier. I noticed comments below that restores of single files are difficult or impossible. Just use the search option and pick the file or files you want to restore and it puts the files in a folder under Macintosh HD or overwrites the file if you choose. I recommend it highly. It is simply unbelievable how much faster than version 6 was at doing backups. It never crashes, hangs or double launches. It is simply rock solid.
This did not fix the real problem with this display. Screen refresh only occurs when you mouse over an area of the screen. The rest of the time it just sits there like you've done nothing.
Note: This problem only occurs with Mozilla browsers Firefox and SeaMonkey, but does not affect Camino. It seems like a Mozilla problem because all other applications on my Mac work fine.
Also, I did not have the audio problem this is supposed to fix.
I gladly paid for the upgrade. The last time I had to pay was in September 2005. Five years of a great product is well worth the price I've paid. The only problem is attempting to use Power Manager with Tiger. You simply can't license the software. The Apply button stays grayed out with after all of the proper information is entered (even via a DSSW supplied AppleScript). I hope they get that fixed in version 4.0.1. I gave all five stars rating, except for ease of use because of this one problem.
They need to fix this thing. The Instant On extra make every application made in Real Basic crash, every single one of them. I uninstalled Instant On and everything is back to normal.
I went back to version 2.3.3 beta because the last several 3.0 alpha releases crash short after the application has launched. My crash report has lots of the following line. I mean lots.
How do you get this to work? It runs an endless loop trying to install the Dynamic Libraries. They never install making it impossible to launch D-Vision. Fix it and I can rate it.
