Wonderful application. Very stable, very slick, very powerful.
I also really appreciate the recording function. However, since I am often using video in my presentation I frequently do encouter a problem with the recording function: if you record a presentation it is not possible to "play" with the video clips you show, i.e. you cannot scrub forwards or backwards etc. This seriously impacts my use of Keynote. Of course, I see that this is probably a very difficult feature to implement. But at the level of sophistication that Keynote has reached, why not ask for it? ;)
I also find it wonderful that Apple keeps updating this app for over three years now without asking money from us.
BUT, I would really, really, really love to get a real upgrade to iWork _for the Mac and not for iOS_ somewhat soonish. This is not as urgent for Keynote as it is for Pages and Numbers, but still I find myself wishing for a real upgrade several times per week…
Great app that I have used for many OS X revisions – I am happy that it has been updated for Lion too, as the subtle and nicely configurable display of network activity in my menu bar helps me troubleshoot problem, recognize strange activities and generally feel like a really tech savvy guy ;-)
One nitpick: the app icon needs to be updated to the full resolution that is supported under Lion.
Big Trouble! Updating to 10.6.7 can cause serious problems with OpenType fonts (.otf) such as those delivered along with the Adobe CS. Affected fonts include Myriad Pro, Adobe Garamond Pro, etc. If you make a PDF that includes one of these fonts, the PDF (and the postscript) contains serious errors that cause jumbled and/or missing characters, non-openable PDF files etc. There are at least three threads that discuss this on Apple's support forum, the issue has been reported by MacInTouch users, etc.
It would be great if this could also translate the .result format produced by Sony Ericsson GPS phones (i.e. the Elm or the Hazel) - somebody already implemented this in Java, but it does not run on the Mac as far as I know…
5.2.3 has been released June 16 2010 - I guess it is only listed here because it has been re-released for the App Store. But re-listing it here on MacUpdate seems unnecessary to me…
From the included information:
• Addresses an issue where some music videos may not play on Macs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or 9600 graphics.
• Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when deleting a playlist that has the iTunes Sidebar showing.
• Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when connecting an iPod to a Mac equipped with a PowerPC processor.
• Addresses an issue where some music videos may not sync to an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
Thanks to the developer for picking up the ball again! It is really nice to see that the GPG Keychain Access app is being developed in such a rapid pace :)
Now if only someone would update the GPG 1.4.x installer to the current version (not everyone has Developer Tools installed and can compile stuff on her/his own…) - then everything would be perfect!
I already own Adobe Acrobat so this is what I compared ABBYY FineReader with. I used a few different documents that I copied a few years ago using a photocopier, now scanned in with one of these large office copying/scanning machines (B/W only, 300 dpi, set to text). To my surprise, FineReader was only a tad better than Acrobat.
With a good scan Acrobat would probably make four to five mistakes per page, whereas FineReader would make two to three.
With a mediocre scan the difference was slightly bigger (pro FineReader).
To my surprise, the difference seemed to be a bit smaller when I tested some German documents (the other were English, language was always chosen correctly).
FineReader was also quite a bit slower than Acrobat, but that is not much of an issue for me. I guess I will wait for a new version to evaluate the difference once more.
+3
Matrix Reloaded GL
I would much rather have only the Matrix patterns dropping down, without any images of the movies. Feels tacky to me.
I deleted it right after testing it for a minute.
(Others might feel different, so I won’t give it a bad star rating based on this purely subjective impression.)
