I was excited to try IPObserver, since bwanadik no longer supported sending eMail notifications of ip address chances on Snow Leopard.
I set it up and it worked at first.
I was later shocked to find that IPObserver changed the notification eMail address I had entered and actually added part of my system password as a prefix to my eMail address!
I wrote to the dev and haven't heard back from him about this.
I see IPObserver as a HUGE SECURITY RISK and suggest to AVOID AT ALL COST!
Update: While I'm still not sure what happened, it's possible that another user of the computer accidentally changed the eMail rather than the program. (Not sure)
Missing Sync for the Palm Pre is crapware. Hoping that you will be able to sync is like playing the lottery. Tech Support is a joke. It's only slightly better than nothing.
I had heard some amazing things about Drive Genius, but hearing about a $5 charge to download an update is troubling. In professional music software there is copy protected software that requires registration for it to work, and to get updates. There must be many ways that the developer could "verify" that the people downloading are registered customers. Also, to here about people loosing their whole drive while defragging is not very encouraging. I hope these issues get fixed and policies changed, because I've heard other good things about this product.
Thanks for great utility. Is there a way to easily add some type of indication of how much free space is available? I know there's two memory partitions available and I'm assuming this is using the larger partition.
Why does the chat window auto scroll back to the top (the first part of the conversation) after every entry? So I've got to manually scroll down every time I want to read what was just written...
I had tried the previous version and saw great potential for use as a mini home alarm system. Have you considered allowing a remote method of arming and disarming such as SMS text messages or even a paired Apple Bluetooth remote?
To me, one "Killer App" for the Mac is home security. Being able to access the iSight camera to take picture of the room makes me wonder if you could either add motion detection and sms or eMail alarms and/or work closely with a program called SecuritySpy... www.SecuritySpy.com
I like the idea of this app but it's not working properly on my MacBook Pro running 10.6.4. Even though I've set the preferences to show the external ip in the menu, it is showing the local ip. Also, it intermittently doesn't show anything at all. I looked on the devs website for a support page and couldn't find anything. If these issues get worked out I would consider buying it.
