BusyCal

it's a very nice app and a good alternative to ical (which is terrible in Lion) though, i think at $50 it's way too expensive... but that's just me...

Very useful and very nicely designed... a must have app at the right price - thanks Joel.

Carbon Copy Cloner
Ocd commented on 01 Oct 2011
What has happened to this software?... I haven't updated it for quite a while and the new version is very different - so cryptic and complicated! it used to be simple... clone the drive and that's it... now theres all this archive stuff and wether to delete or not to delete, yada yada... I cant figure out what to set things to... and the presets don't don't do what i expect... and the help material is overly complicated.... ugh.
There should be some settings for simpletons like me... or maybe a basic and advanced mode... whatever... I'm going back to using vers. 3 - it works and its easy...

This is certainly a fine ftp app... lots of features and a well designed interface... but FileZilla is perfectly adequate for me... and it's free.

Apple Final Cut Pro X

Ocd reviewed on 24 Jun 2011
Calling this "Final Cut Pro" was Apple's biggest mistake. If they had just called it Final Cut X or iMovie Plus or whatever, it would be a fine addition to their software line.
This is NOT in any way a replacement for Final Cut Pro. The feature set, tools and functionality are innovative and impressive, but completely inadequate for the same level of use as FCP 7. This software is an enthusiast and "prosumer" tool at best, and is really nothing more the next evolutionary step of iMovie. Calling it Final cut "Pro" is a huge step backward and a slap in the face to all those devoted users and fans of FCP.

This is not "Final Cut Pro" but a sheep in wolfs clothing.

VueScan

Ocd reviewed on 26 May 2011
I've been using this gem for years and it just keeps getting better and better. Hamrick is very dedicated to his work, he pays attention to his clients needs, and he updates the app constantly. His efforts are reflected in the high quality, superior functionality and rich features of Vuescan. There is no scanning software on the planet that can match it's versatility, consistency and value.

Plex

Impressive and well designed but not quite there yet.
Also, this app uses massive amounts of power and if you use it on a portable device or macbook, it will run hot and drain your battery in no time flat.

VueScan
Ocd commented on 27 Jul 2010
I find that this is not a replacement software for your new scanners... I suggest you use the software that comes with it/them - it's usually the best way to go an you will get the best compatibility and results.
However - Vuescan is an absolute godsend for many older scanners and ones with dubious and outdated software. The quality and control can't be beat at any price.
