Acquisition

A lot of people complain that the developer is rude, doesn't respond to legitimate bug issues, but seriously, there is rarely a time that will occur where the average user will encounter a problem that requires speaking with the developer to solve. I have never encountered a major bug issue with the 3+ years I've used the program. Some updates aren't as great as the last ones, but everything is usually resolved quickly as this program gets updated pretty often by the developer.

Acquisition downloads FAST, I mean FAST. I was clocking over 1.2 MB/sec with 30 simultaneous downloads, maxing out my 9 Mbps cable line. Searching yeilds good results, sometimes varying your keywords will help find the files quicker [e.g. {Greys Anatomy episode} vs. more a more specific search, {Greys Anatomy s02e15} (season 2 episode 15)]. The filters help rid the spam results that seem to becoming more common in the gnutella networks. Its stable, the GUI looks like it was designed by Apple, and its interface is easy to use, but not limited in features at all. I purchased it a few years back and feel it was one of the best investments I made for my mac.

Works well, but $15 just isn't worth donating for an emulator as basic as this i.e. no cheat support, sound still sucks.

Works well, the best ed2k client out there for the mac. Tons of files, downloads slower than gnutella (e.g. Acquisition), but if you're patient and don't mind leaving your computer running for awhile, you can obtain a lot of files that are or seem to be rare on the gnutella networks. Only thing that really sucks for the average user is that its not a simple install and run like Acquisition; there is a lot of configuring you need to do to your network (i.e. port forwarding, opening ports on your firewalls, etc) to fully maximize your searches and downloads. I suggest reading wiki.amule.org. once you download the program to get you up and running as smoothly as possible. The GUI has a few problems, but hey, its still the best ed2k client, it works and best of all, its free.
