Slidepad is no longer supported and version 1.2.6 has started crashing on startup. Guess all my notes for the last couple years are long gone. Wonderful.
Does anyone know how to get SMS working again? It hasn't worked since 1.4.2, months ago. There are a couple tickets open at the Adium developer page about this issue but there's been no response.
It works in 1.4.1, but Facebook messaging doesn't work in that version. So I have to pick one over the other, and I need both.
This is the second time I've purchased CoverSutra. I bought it when it first came out, however many years ago. When I figured out I'd have to pay for the upgrade for Lion, I balked at first, like many of you. I tried all the other alternatives and Bowtie was the closest--I loved the thumbing capability. But Bowtie notoriously doesn't show the artwork properly, at least on my machine, 50% of the time. And when you rate a track, the stars don't reflect that immediately. CoverSutra just works. So, give me all the frownie faces you want. This woman is a fantastic graphic designer and CoverSutra is a joy to use.
Always enjoyed this extension but just figured out that it was not allowing the number of Disqus comments to be shown on my blog. Instead of "2 Comments" it would always show "View Comments".
It's been years but there is still no new app that can fill the VisualHub-shaped hole in my heart.
if that's not a testament to the quality of the app, I don't know what is. That and the fact that VisualHub has NEVER crashed on me. Not once. And that's with nearly daily use.
I'm so, so bummed the developer was forced to cease all work on this excellent app. (http://www.journler.com/blog/2009/09/23/journler-development-ends-sprouted-shutting-down/)
I wish there was something we could do to change his mind. Perhaps if he charged a nominal fee for personal use? I'm sure he's already added up all the numbers and there's nothing we could do to keep him going.
I just hope he realizes how much we loved and appreciated his work.
It took me nearly a week to get my Epson 1280 working correctly after the last Epson driver update, so, in this case, I'm a firm believer in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school of thought.
If your Epson is printing fine, if you can check the ink levels with Epson Printer Utility and if your printer color profiles are in order, I would wait a while before installing this update. Or just skip it altogether.
It's not that I don't trust Apple, i don't just Epson. Epson printers, although they probably deliver the best print quality available in a consumer-grade home printer, are very touchy. On top of that, Epson's Mac support is notoriously awful. So, proceed with extreme caution.
If anyone has been getting the beachball of death whenever they switch from an app to the finder, I think I found a fix: Use the free version of Font Explorer to clean the system fonts folders. That will remove any fonts that don't belong in the those folders. Ever since I did that, no more more beachball. :) System is much more responsive now.
I made a similar mistake in the past--updating a critical machine while in the middle of an important project. Once. I'll never do it again. I learned my lesson. BIG TIME.
I'm sure Apple does its best to to test their updates in order to avoid problems like this, but there could be something different about your system, or, a perfect storm of differences that resulted in the issues you're experiencing. Which is why I never apply an update until the world has had at least a day to troubleshoot for me.
Also, if you want to mirror your drive, you should mirror your drive--Time Machine wasn't meant for that. Carbon Copy Cloner does a wonderful job.
Just a heads up. 1.51 seems to have a massive memory leak, at least on my machine. Activity Monitor shows it's using 800+ megabytes with only one current download.
I know it will be fixed. Transmission still rocks.
I uninstalled the old version with AppZapper and installed 1.52. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem. There is a significant delay every time I open Transmission's preferences, then the app's real memory soars past 800mb--all of my free memory.
I posted the same bug report in the Transmission forums a week ago but haven't gotten a response. Has anyone here had similar issues?
You've got to be kidding me. I get frowny faces for reporting a possible bug? I thought the fanboy accusations were exaggerated until now.
I reported this problem weeks ago on the Transmission online forums but haven't heard from anyone having the same issues, nor have I heard from the developers.
I'm not even complaining, I just want to figure out what's going on.
I really, really like Transmission but I can't use it until this is resolved. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I've been using Xtorrent every single day for months and months and I think it has only crashed once.
Why don't we try to figure out why some of you are having problems with stability.
1) Are you running OS 10.4.10?
2) Are you running any hacks?
3) What do you have in your Login Items?
4) Have you tried running Xtorrent under another user?
5) What other apps are you running at the same time as Xtorrent?
I don't think it's all Xtorrent's fault though, because if it was I'd be crashing all the time too.
I keep my copy running all day, all night, nearly every day, and I never have these problems. So Xtorrent alone can't be the reason.
I would think your next step is to create a new user, install Xtorrent under it, then try running it there and see if your problems continue.
Let us know!
Oh, almost forgot, make sure you have no font issues. Corrupt fonts cause crashes constantly and it's a real pain in the ass. I use Linotype FontExplorer (free and awesome) to wrangle my font collection and clean the font caches occasionally. Also, make sure your system fonts folder only contains fonts installed by the Mac OS. Font Explorer has a function that takes care of that as well.
Then I would execute the automation item with Onyx (also free and awesome) which will run daily, weekly and monthly maintenance scripts, clean caches, etc.
I have to agree iGaucho. And now that you mention it, I remember losing a couple of torrents after an upgrade, back in the pre 1.x days. Other than that, it's worked like a dream-a complete joy to use.
However, there has got to be something going on here because the number of complaints about crashing has recently grown.
I'm convinced there's some conflict between Xtorrent and a mystery application on these users' Macs. Maybe we're not having any problems because we're not running 1 tiny little app they happen to be running.
It would just be cool to figure this out, that's all.
Safari 3 kept crashing on launch, even after disabling Speed Download's Safari plugin, then uninstalling Uno, Saft, PithHelmet and Safari Enhancer. Turns out you must manually remove the SpeedDownload Enhancer folder from ~/Library/InputMangers as well. Then Safari 3 works fine.
Hope that helps folks who are having crash problems.
For some reason the Delivery Restrictions settings aren't working any more. I can't send more than 20 messages at a time thru smtp so I have it set to wait 2 minutes between each group of 20. It used to work fine. Now it just goes right past 20 and tries to send them all, resulting in hundreds of failed messages.
Ah, think I figured it out. There seems to be a bug of some sort related to the check-for-dupes-before-sending feature. When that is turned on, the smtp send delay seems to be ignored. When it's turned off, it works perfectly.
I'll report this to the developer.
