Looking for a fairly simple, easy to use replacement for Quicken 2006 without all the extra stuff Quicken comes with that I never use I researched all the available personal finance programs & it looked like Moneydance may be the one. I first tried the trial version & noticed things I didn't like but figured with experience It would be OK so I bought the program. Boy what a mistake that was. After using it for 2 weeks I finally gave up in frustration. Moneydance is a an unacceptable, difficult to use convoluted program. Adding or editing securities requires maneuvering through several different forms. The handling of split transactions is very poor & one has to open the transaction to see the splits. The program doesn't allow adding or editing its default security actions. The final straw was when I entered a stock buy or sell transaction it was duplicated & even worse it entered in the portfolio view the wrong number of securities, e.g. I would enter 100 shares in the transaction & the program would show 100.0135 or some other random number. I also never could get the transfer funds actions or auto deposits functions to consistently work correctly. Guess I should have tried the trial version longer before spending $$. Anyone looking for a personal finance program should avoid Moneydance & look elsewhere.
